I am looking for a denim dress that is comfortable, i.e. soft, not rigid, kind of smart looking, so dark denim, and doesn't look like a sack of potatoes. What are my chances?Grin

I didn't know JL did free delivery and returns. Thanks for that.

This is a lovely soft tunic denim style dress from Tu at Sainsbury's

I like the Phase Eight Magda dress.

Growingboys · 14/02/2018 21:42

Gap do great ones every year

OCSockOrphanage · 14/02/2018 21:52

I have a White Stuff jersey shift in a dark blue denim colour that I bought 18 months ago that has been admired. As they don't change their ranges much, there might be something similar?

MrsMogginsMinge · 14/02/2018 22:02

I know I know it’s M&S but I bought the non-petite version of this in the sale and it looks surprisingly good on, plus is soft and comfy. www.marksandspencer.com/petite-shirt-midi-dress-with-belt/p/p60138003?image=SD_01_T42_8987P_HP_X_EC_90&color=DENIM&prevPage=plp

MikeUniformMike · 14/02/2018 22:04

That's nice. Does it have side pockets?

MrsMogginsMinge · 14/02/2018 22:06

No side pockets sadly. Then it really would be perfect.

goose1964 · 14/02/2018 22:44

Twinkly have you looked in store? I recently bought a lovely top from monsoon in store which isn't on the website

MikeUniformMike · 14/02/2018 23:40

Shame about that. M&S, if you're reading - we want collars, sleeves and pockets.

I know it's got pockets but I want ones for putting things in - phone, wallet, keys ...

IWillSurviveHeyHey · 15/02/2018 07:27

No good for me as they are our of small sizes but some of you might like this one:

I tried that Boden one

It was too thick and heavy for me, like a denim jacket

Love to know if it suits you

MaudesMum · 15/02/2018 07:44

Cos quite frequently have denim shirt dresses. At present the nearest they've got is this www.cosstores.com/de/Women/Dresses/Shirt_dress_with_drape_detail/46881-85408775.1#c-22755 which is actually cotton, but might do?

Starryskiesinthesky · 15/02/2018 07:45

I like the Whistles one but too dear and the Great Plains one but too big!

Chocolatecake12 · 15/02/2018 07:50

Surprisingly I got a lovely denim dress in Sainsbury’s. Might be worth a look.
My other denim dress came from fatface and it’s a soft style denim shift dress. I tried on about 4 different ones in there.

Midi length? warehouse?
looks like this could be shortened successfully - have seen this in the shop - was tempted

bit more "fashion" warehouse 2

MikeUniformMike · 15/02/2018 10:56

Dresses generally don't take kindly to being shortened.

HolyShet · 15/02/2018 11:42

really? - I've done it loads, and had it done by dressmakers - if there's not a fully skirt or swirly hemline. I like the midi length myself but could see it might not work on someone very petite.

IWillSurviveHeyHey · 15/02/2018 12:18

this one is pretty!

I'm a 62 year old 5'3" person who rather likes pinafore dresses - denim or otherwise!

Astrabees · 15/02/2018 13:34

G-Star I love this dress, but don't really need it!

MikeUniformMike · 15/02/2018 14:49

If it's a straightish skirt and fabric that would be ok as trousers it should be ok. Knits and certain shapes will need shortening from the waistband end.

Trousers are ok if the legs are fairly straight. Generally, I would say buy it in the right length.

MikeUniformMike · 15/02/2018 14:50

The Monsoon one is great.
