Ideas for evening do outfit?

Hi folks, i am relying on you lovely lot to give me inspiration.

I have been in invited to an evening wedding reception by a young man i used to mentor many years ago. We have kept in touch and i am really flattered he asked me.
It is gping to be in a really nice music venue - think old style music hall, very ornate and lush. There will be a couple of bands playing that night.

I dont know anyone else going so i cant check how glam / casual it will be. I am struggling with ideas. I could go very casual and everyone else be in cocktail style wear or vice versa.

I lost nearly 7 stone last year and mentally still adjusting as i feel huge alot of the time. I am a size 10 and my boobs have went from 38EE to a 32b so not so keen on anything low cut or strapless. Also my upper arms arent great so sleeveless is pretty much out.
I really dont like patterened or flouncy clothes and after hiding under layers for years, starting to feel a bit better about more figure hugging / structured stuff.

My budget is around £100.
Any ideas?

I'm 5'6" and it's long but I always wear heels so not a problem

weeonion · 17/02/2018 14:01

That's a shame/pain!

MissFritton65 · 18/02/2018 00:09

Weeonion just some feedback having now worn the jumpsuit. It is very long........even in my highest heels I still stood on the hem so had to alter them before going out tonight. When I moved my arms, the neckline slipped up onto my sholders so felt I spent a lot of time pulling it down. However I did get a number of compliments over the evening and it was really comfortable to wear.

weeonion · 18/02/2018 15:22

Ta for that missfritton.

If it fits well then i would probably take it somewhere to get hemmed. Dont fancy what kind of job i may do measuring it myself.

I had wondered about the collar creeping up but as it is the bit i love most, i could probably live with that.

Just heard that i am invited to an awards ceremony through work so hoping it wi do for that too.

I just used the iron on hemming tape as only turned it back on the hem as I'm reasonably tall and always wear heels. The collar is stunning and looks great...just avoid moving your arms too much!!
Overall it's a great outfit and was told several times that I looked "elegant" so for me that's a RESULT.

weeonion · 20/02/2018 19:47

Ok. One of the ones i ordered from reiss arrived.

I am not sure. Its a size bigger than i ususally wear. I think it feels a bit big on top, a bit big under the arms.

What do you think?

I think it's too long in the body and too big!

Maverick66 · 20/02/2018 20:15

I just want to say flipping fabulous congratulations on your weight loss GrinThanks

weeonion · 20/02/2018 20:26

Problem is they dont have a size 10 left. I have ordered the size 8 but it may be too tight.

Ta maverick66.
When i look in the mirror i still see myself the same as before.

MissFritton65 · 20/02/2018 20:35

I'd try the size 8 as that looks too big. Your figure is great but that isn't do you justice

weeonion · 20/02/2018 21:06

Will try the size 8 on hopefully tomorrow and take photos for your opinion.

I so want it to fit as i love the collar.

Much happier with this size. Not perfect but should be better with proper underwear and heels.

What do you think?

I was going to suggest something completely different look up Vivienne of holloway pencil dresses. You can dress them and down and they will show off your new figure brilliantly. They are 1950s inspired but I love them and can't help but share about them.

weeonion · 21/02/2018 16:49

I do like a pencil skirt and have very similar 50's style ones i wear for work occasions. Tjose vivienne ones are lovely.

Wanted something different for this do though.

MissFritton65 · 21/02/2018 17:58

The size 8 is definitely a much better fit and agree about the right underwear. I think it will be too long even with heels though.

weeonion · 21/02/2018 21:10

Definetly need it taken up a fair bit but will wait until i get the shoes sorted. The staff in Reiss said that almost everyone needed to get jumpsuits shortened.

MakeTeaNotWar · 21/02/2018 21:44

OP you have an amazing figure but I don't think it looks very nice at all, like greying bandages. Something with a bolder colour and less weird shape would be much better

weeonion · 22/02/2018 18:37

Maketeanotwar - thank you for that.

I do love it but tbh it is more the collar that i am in love with than the rest of it.

I am torn. I feel good in it but not amazing. I love it but not necessarily on me.

I wanted something striking and a bit different. I wear alot of the same to work and then a more casual version at home.
I used to be out socialising all the time but not so much anymore so dont get the chance to dress up much which i think is why i am so looking forward to this night.

I dont know if i should go back to the drawing board or stick with this and get cracking with fab accesdiries?
If back to the drawing board - what the heck do i get.
