Daughters ear piercing

Posting here for traffic as I posted in health and no responses as yet :(

My two dd's had their ear pierced. How long do I need to keep cleaning them. Have been doing it religiously now for 2 weeks. Does anyone know when it can stop or lessen? How long did you keep doing it? They are just lobe piercings.

DO NOT PUT SURGICAL SPIRIT ON PIERCINGS Angry

neveradullmoment99 · 12/02/2018 12:28

Thank you everyone :) You have all been very helpful. I will never use surgical spirit no worries Paper
I would need to buy seasalt so may as well buy saline. I will ask at boots. It means I don't need to worry about proportions of seasalt to water and means I can just keep it in the container it comes with without it being contaminated. Just easier in a busy household.
Bobbiepin Thanks for yours support regarding helping my dd's and their ages. I have had infected piercings [cartilidge] before and want to avoid that for my dds.

No worries, maybe get her involved in the cleaning process, so its not just your responsibility.

GrannyGrissle · 12/02/2018 20:10

Yes saline solution is fine OP, better infact as adding too much salt when home making can irritate healing wounds (salt draws away infection) and ensure they aren't mindlessly fiddled with with grubby hands (body piercer for over 20 years).

PS. When did Style & Beauty become AIBU?! How unnecessary all this 'too young' flatulence is.

neveradullmoment99 · 12/02/2018 20:23

Thank you GrannyGrissle Just as I thought regarding saline. They have been told not to touch their ears and have not fiddled with them thank god!

I also totally agree about the comment you made about it not being AIBU. I asked about care not ages that are appropriate so have not risen to any such comment.

When did S&B become relevant for children Hmm

neveradullmoment99 · 12/02/2018 20:28

Well true, but posted for traffic if you read my first post and in any case, piercings are about style and beauty anyway.
I have my answers so happy to let the thread die out now.
Thanks everone for your help Grin.

Don’t use contact lens solution. Is has something in it that will irritate the piercing. I get a sterile saline spray in a can for piercings. Spray it on the front and back once a day.

My DD has lobe and cartilige piercings.

She uses boiled water with salt (enough to go cloudy) cooled and put in a spray bottle. She sqooshed them in the shower , no need for cotton wool and all the pesky fibres Shock

She was adviced the LITHA method - Leave It The Hell Alone.
No twisting or fiddling .
