Hairdresser in East Midlands??

Hi I'm looking for a hairdresser who's good at cutting thick wavy hair. After a few bad cuts I just want someone listens and has a creative touch.

Missed a bit - someone who listens

Whereabouts in the East Mids are you? I'm Nottingham and Hairven in Beeston is good, as is Beauty Lounge (also Beeston).

MaggieMay23 · 04/02/2018 22:28

@Littlepig8834 thanks I'm actually between derby and Nottingham

Me too! I’m also looking for a hairdresser as mine is on maternity.

Littlepig8834 · 04/02/2018 22:37

Keith Hall's are usually ok, although they can be pricey. I'd also ask for any mobile hairdresser recommendations, as they can also be good, especially as they rely on word of mouth they usually do listen to what you want.

Another vote for Hairven

MaggieMay23 · 04/02/2018 23:27

Is there a particular stylist at hairven?

Anymore?

I use Gerard in Grantham, they're good but I've also heard lots of good things about Hairven as someone else mentioned and Dudley's in Bulwell (Nottingham) as well as Zullo and Holland in Nottingham city centre ( I think Vicky McClure gets her hair done here, or used to anyway)

WhiteVixen · 05/02/2018 11:55

I've also heard good things about Hairven although I don't know about an individual stylist.

Personally I go to a really small hairdressers in Sawley (Long Eaton) called Hair First. It's like a tiny village hairdressers but the sisters who run it are really good! It's really well priced too.

If you want a great stylist that really listens to you, I recommend Andrew at CAST in Beeston, performs miracles on my hair.

MaggieMay23 · 05/02/2018 13:47

Wow thank you. You've certainly given me some food for thought.

@WhiteVixen I actually live a mile or so from Sawley!! I've seen hair first recommended on our local Facebook page. Which stylist would you suggest?

I also have thick wavy hair and live in the same area as you. I've been going to CAST in Beeston for years, and can recommend a stylist if you would like further information. I do find with my hair I have to remind her each time to remember to take enough 'out' as opposed to 'off' as well (I have mine thinned and it makes such a difference!).

However, I would prefer to go somewhere a bit more local, so would be interested in the stylist from Hair First too. Smile

WhiteVixen · 05/02/2018 15:32

Haha you must live very close to me then 😆 I did wonder if you meant around here when you said up thread that you live between Derby and Nottingham. It's what I tell people.

Ermmm as for a particular stylist I'm not really sure. I think it's Kerry that does mine. Although (disclaimer) I have crap fine hair that literally takes 20 minutes to wash, trim and blow dry. My friend also goes to HairFirst and she has looooong thick hair with a bit of a wave and she's been going there for ages so I'll ask her who she thinks is better. The main two sisters are Tracy and Kerry and then they've got one or two other stylists who work there too.

WhiteVixen · 05/02/2018 15:57

My friend says it's Tracey that does her hair, which is probably a lot more like yours than mine is!

MaggieMay23 · 05/02/2018 16:23

Thanks @WhiteVixen I'll check her out. I used to live off Tamworth Rd.

OP posts:
WhiteVixen · 05/02/2018 17:13

God I hope they do a good job now I've recommended them! 😆 my hair is so fine, it's hard to make it look much worse. Unless they try to put layers in 😡

They're not expensive though so worth a punt. Around £20 if I remember correctly for a cut and blow dry, it's not a great loss if you don't go back. This has all reminded me that I need to book an appointment.

Littlepig8834 · 05/02/2018 17:47

Sorry for slow reply, I really like Jade at Hairven.

I have also heard great things about Cast but have never been myself.

Sitranced · 05/02/2018 20:10

The Strand in Derby city centre are excellent.

MaggieMay23 · 05/02/2018 22:04

Thanks everyone.
