Pjs that don't shrink

All I want is some decent sets of pjs that don't end up as ankle swingers after 2 washes. I only wash on 30, and I'm not even tall!!

I've mainly bought Sainsbury's ones and clearly they aren't the answer... but what is?

Another vote for Primark. I have tried them all.

I think tomorrow I'm going to do the super cool thing of lining all my pjs up and seeing which have shrunk the worst. I lust after fatface but always felt the price tag was ridiculous for night wear... maybe it's worth It!

Boden and Hush are the only ones that haven't shrunk. They're both woven cotton. I've given up on jersey style. A jersey pair from next shrunk 6 inches in one wash!

HLBug · 04/02/2018 22:16

Lands End!!! I have 5 pairs and they are indestructible.

I have a couple of fatface ones similar to these from a few months ago and they have both really shrunk, I was raving about the perfect fit which is why I bought the 2nd pair but they are both just too short on the leg now. I'm 5' 8"

Yep, I've tried loads of the brands mentioned here and they all shrink. Thought it was just me. I don't tumble dry them either. (it doesn't take any time to drip dry them by the way, thirty seconds to hang them up then you can just do other stuff, then another thirty seconds to take them off the airer and put them away).

I'm not sure what the answer is. Woven cotton seem less prone than jersey types. I have one M&S pair not shrunk, rest all have. Debenhams, all shrunk. Hush, Fat Face - shrunk. Gap - I have some woven cotton ones that have stayed OK.

It's all just such a waste of money though. I wear shorts in summer now!

I'm 5 foot 6, so average height - fairly tall. I buy men's PJ bottoms from H&M. Or I have some in size 18-20 from primark. I'm a size 10. They all fit perfectly in the length.

Shrink offenders:

  • fat face
  • jack wills
  • gap

I love Primark cotton jersey pjs. They come in lovely colours and prints (my favourites being the cappuccino and leopard print ones they have had in various styles for the last couple of years). Me and my adult DDs have loads of pairs, always wash on 40 and tumble dry and I have never had a problem with shrinking. It has to be the cotton jersey tops AND bottoms though. I'm not so keen on the woven cotton bottoms, they don't shrink but they do pill and I hate a bobbly bottom.

My lovely autumnal Fatface pyjama bottoms shrank two inches. They are still just long enough on my 5'10 bod as I bought a larger size. They also have pockets.
Primary cotton flannelette have always shrunk but other fabric is fine.

Amie021 · 05/02/2018 11:18

I am 5' 4" and buy M&S kids 'traditional pj style' pjs -usually age 15-16 Sometimes the patterns aren't 'age appropriate' (too sparkly!!)for me but at Christmas I bought some soft cotton grey ones with teal trees in that traditional pj style. They are fab. Havent shrunk. I actually have to roll them up a bit. There was also a London scene pattern which I wish I'd bought as they were very similar to past Boden pattern. I have a cotton pair of Boden pj bottoms which are about 5 years old. They havent shrunk either but the bum area is very baggy unless it's me that has shrunk in the arse (!). Unlikely ...............

HLBug · 05/02/2018 14:30

@Amie021 I thought I was the only grown up person to shop in M&S, thank you for proving I'm not alone! I'm also 5'4" - I love the age 15-16 running leggings and their shoes go up to a size 6. My sparkly wellies have been commented on many a time Grin

I have small feet and always buy my socks from the boys range at M&S, they cost about a quarter of the women's range.
