I’ve ordered this dress, will I look like I’m off for a game of tennis when I wear it?!

I really love it, it won’t be a work dress so lack of pockets isn’t an issue, and I need a bit of sleeve, navy is my favourite colour.
But now I’ve ordered it, I’m worried it looks a bit tennis-y! What do you reckon?

I like it 🤗

Only if it was white, surely? It's cute.

Feezles · 01/02/2018 14:13

I really like it - yes, it has a sporty vibe, but it clearly isn't a sports dress.

IHaveBrilloHair · 01/02/2018 14:15

I like it, and not too tennissy.

idontlikealdi · 01/02/2018 14:20

I love it!

CakeNinja · 01/02/2018 14:25

Oh great, phew! Yes, I agree with the sporty vibe, I had a Fred Perry dress quite similar a few years ago, all in black, which is possibly where I’m drawing the tennis connection!
I like it though, it looks fun :)
Hope it fits nicely when it arrives now.

Oh, forgot to ask, what sort of shoes? I haven’t got anywhere in mind to wear it to, I didn’t buy it for an occasion, but what kind of shoes would look nice with this? I can do heels but not 6inch stilettos! I’m not 19 any more 😂

tennis shoes, obviously. Smile

nice dress.

whichwayisout · 01/02/2018 18:37

Chunky heeled strapped sandal.

whichwayisout · 01/02/2018 18:37

Strappy**

Luckycatsplat · 01/02/2018 18:37

Not tennis. I thought more of a 60s vibe.

MissMary0fSweden · 01/02/2018 18:39

It looks like those dresses with tabs that you cut out and put on a paper doll when I was little, and chose matching shoes, bag and headband!

That's not an insult btw, I like it.

AliceLutherNeeMorgan · 01/02/2018 18:42

I love it! I had one similar a couple of years ago (not any longer; I ripped it really badly falling over in the garden) and wore it with Swedish hasbeens in a tan shade. No idea whether that was “correct” though!

Doobigetta · 01/02/2018 18:48

Thats lovely, where is it from?

CakeNinja · 01/02/2018 18:48

I was wondering if brown might be okay with the navy, I have plenty of brown shoes and boots etc but don’t really do sandals as I find feet gross! I could at a push wear them but they couldn’t be anything with just a couple of thin straps exposing most of the foot!
I just find them freaky Grin mine are fine, no extra toes, no hairy toe knuckles, no hard skin etc, just don’t want to see them particularly!
This dress may just warrant sandals though.
Or, as a Pp pointed out, some tennis shoes 😂😂

The Tisha or Selina shoes from Boden would work in my view.

BubblesBuddy · 01/02/2018 18:54

Sorry - Sena shoes.

CakeNinja · 01/02/2018 18:55

Arghh, I lack imagination/vision, I wish they’d shown the model with shoes on as i’d Have just bought them!
I have some shoes like those Tisha ones but can’t find the Selina on there, it links me to dresses?

Xpost, I’ll have another look! Thankyou everyone for your suggestions - I’m pretty clueless as you can probably tell Grin

Doob, it’s from ted baker, think it’s their new season so wanted to get in quick as they have something against sleeves generally in that shop - apparently everyone loves their arms and want to get them out at every opportunity! So when I saw a bit of sleevage, I was all over it like a rash!

Gorgeous dress. If it's just for general wearing I'd get some pink or nude trainers, converse or Stan Smiths or one of the retroish suede trainers. If you'd rather wear shoes then a nude brogue or chunky flat t-bar or Mary jane. I think a delicate shoe wouldn't look right with that dress. But nude will elongate your legs

DianaT1969 · 01/02/2018 19:44

I like the dress and would light or pink skater shoes for casual. Any of these shapes appeal for casual too?

Dd1 has suggested light pink suede gazelles and dd2 has suggested chunky trainers Confused

I’ll wait until it’s here and try it on with what I’ve got first I think, have a lot of different styles of navy shoes, and actually a couple of pairs of nude brogues, one with a heel and one without, I think they might be good.

She's right. Enbrogue says trainers looked perfect with everything sporty styled dresses.

NewYearNiki · 01/02/2018 20:34

Love it.

But then I love Ted Baker.
