If you have very long thick hair, do you use two boxes of hair dye?

Yes - I don't all of it, but don't get good coverage with one.

My hair is layered (so thinned out) and just past my shoulders and I still have to use 2 boxes. I swear the amount of dye has got less the past few years!

If you know what your hairdresser would use you could always buy that rather than boxed. I have long dark hair and roots that grow quicker than grass in the summer I got sick of going to the hairdresser all the time and asked what she used - wella professional 4.0 with wella peroxide 6% volume she showed me the mix and I've been doing my own since then saved a fortune and the tubes actually work out cheaper than off the shelf boxes. A tube will generally last me 6-8 "goes".Worth a try?
