V vamp slingback flats- cool update or nasty 1980s revisit?

Have to say I'm not a big fan of v vamps.

They always look a bit bread dough rising to me on most people.

Sil wore a pair for her graduation and her normally perfectly fine ankles looked a bit puffy and old lady

Watching with interest. Bought some silver ones last year but haven't got round to wearing them yet!

I agree that they seem to make feet look puffy somehow. They are fashionable now but I only seem to see them on Instagram, I’ve not seen anyone in real life in them but maybe I’m not hanging with fashionable people enough

I couldn't possibly consider them as I am way to short and stumpy of leg for anything that flat.

I was going to say they would look very stylish on someone tall/slim but they do look a little odd on the model close up - do they come too far up the foot maybe? Bit of an old lady vibe?

I have some with a kitten heel which are a bit more flattering to the ankle than the flat ones. Got them from next. They look good with skinny or peg leg trousers.

Yes I was a bit concerned about old lady vibe stuff especially after those grim cube heeled bastards from last year that all the bloggers raved about. Queen Mother chic is not happening here.

I saw the kitten heeled ones but can’t be arsed faffing around with them although they look nice on others.The downside of a spindly ankle is it buckles on any wobble that a heel can produce so I only do flats.

It's a no from me. I've seen a lot of people wearing them recently and agree with the puffy foot look.
But there's no doubt that they look 'fashionable'.

My instep would develop a muffin top within 30 seconds

Only good on small feet, that’s for sure. My size 10s would look horrifying.

I recently bought these, which are quite similar. They are very flattering and I have had loads of compliments on them!

Ahem. Well I have ordered them. Should be here tomorrow-will report back on bidtasticness and any noticeable Nora ankle over puffage.

They were a big thing back in the 80’s. Most women l knew wire them with power suits etc...

Right-the verdict. Surprisingly nice! No puffage and not too elongating so that they look like bastardised winkle-pickers.
