Hairdressers going over roots and into mid section of hair

Hi, I have tried various hairdressers over the last few years and have had problems when getting my roots done, I wait at least six weeks and usually 8 weeks, but still they go well over the root area and into mid section of hair, which means I end up with a darker section of colour. My hair is mousy/mid brown with about 10 percent grey and I have it dyed a darker mahogany red brown. This seems to be a common problem, I did find one locally who did not do this but I just can't afford their prices and also they only use Sassoon permanent colours with ammonia which I try to avoid. Does anyone else have this problem? Quite often I feel like they are applying the dye like painting a wall and don't seem to be taking any care to just stick to roots. At present my hair is three different shades , roots have gone too purple/red and mid section dark and ends lighter/ more coppery red. I am going back to the salon to get my roots re done over in brown to look less like a stripe of red at roots but am wondering if this is wise as yet again more colour will be added to the mid section. Would it be better to use a colour remover or wait until it fades a bit? I have used a Sasson colour remover at home before called Magic off it is vitamin c based. I am really tempted to sort it out myself but I have just paid £50 to get it coloured. Can anyone advise me please?

Should they not comb it through to the end of your hair towards the end of the development time to blend the colour in and brighten the faded dye on the ends? You shouldn't be coming out of a salon with stripey hair!

Hi she put a demi permanent in same colour on the ends for ten minutes to refresh the ends. I was worried about it going too dark but it hasn't taken properly. Ends are still dark with coppery tone when roots and made section are violet (cool ) red. Yes I agree absolutely it shouldn't happen when you go to a salon. Problem was I didn't see it properly till I got home as lights made myou hair looks very shiny and couldn't see colour difference at roots. When I washed it first time lost violet tone from ends and in daylight roots are very obviously lighter. Just don't know whether to cut my losses and go somewhere else but that's yet more money 😕
