What type of shoes with skinny jeans for size 8 large feet?

I love wearing skinny jeans or leggings with knee high boots and think it is a flattering look.

I have tried ankle boots with them tucked in and they look all rucked up and over the boots don't seem to stay there properly.

I feel that heels may be a bit "tarty" as I am 67 and trainers seem too clumpy on my huge feet.

What do I do?

Could you get some loafers or ballet flat type shoes? Less clumpy than trainers and not as dressed up as heels.

I'm "only"! size 7 but I also think skinnies don't look great with my big feet. I pretty much only wear them tucked into boots or rolled up to 3/4 length. If you think they're getting rucked up when you tuck them into ankle boots, you could try it with lace-up boots so you can open them fairly wide, smooth down the jeans inside them and then do them up. The other alternative that works for some people (I think it depends a lot on the length and shape of your legs) is to roll the jeans up to just above the top of plainer ankle boots, like Chelsea boots for example.

I have size 9 feet. I wear GAP skinny jeans and knee length boots. I think it looks fine. I wouldn't wear ballet pumps with skinny jeans. In fact I wouldn't wear ballet pumps at all - they make feet look bigger imo. I have some of the Clarks brogues and they look good with skinny jeans that are rolled up. Brogues I find are quite flattering.

Converse high tops, brogues, loafers, Chelsea boots.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 16/01/2018 16:43

I have smaller feet, but I really like boots like these with skinny jeans: www.johnlewis.com/dune-pontoon-stacked-heel-ankle-boots/p3394645?colour=Black%20Nubuck (I have the dark taupe ones)
I also have Chelsea boots, but they look odd with my skinny jeans. I much prefer the ones I've linked.

I personally think it looks better if the jeans aren't too long - so if they end just where the boots start, it's perfect.
If the jeans are too long, they bunch up in a way I don't find flattering, and if having to roll the jeans up to make them shorter, it just creates too much bulk and it doesn't look great IMO.

I wear a pair of 'hiking' type boots on my size 8.5 feet with my skinny jeans .. I quite like something a bit clumpier as it makes my thighs look better! I have a pair from Russell and bromley called Huggy and they are lovely and cosy and also has the benefit that you can tuck your jeans into sock inside them to stop them rising up!

Wearing clumpy shoes with skinnies looks cool, dainty tiny pointy shoes (and feetWink) are out!

I like my chunky soled Ash loafers, for example. Size 8 here too!

cannaethink · 16/01/2018 19:34

Roll your skinnies so they sit just at the top of your ankle boots.

I like new balance trainers with skinnies and find they don’t look ridiculous. But then I have quite chunky ankles so a bigger shoe balances it out a bit! I’m a 7.5.
I think it looks best if I turn my jeans up a tiny bit to have my ankle out, then trainers. Skinny jeans meeting my trainers doesn’t suit me at all.

RubbishMantra · 16/01/2018 19:41

What about some trainers with a small concealed wedge, like these Esprit ones? I have them, and they make my size 7s look like little pigs trotters! Grin

Whyarethebestnamestaken · 16/01/2018 20:53

Clumpy shoes remind me of what I had to wear to school back in the day!

I think maybe my jeans are too long also.

I love those wedge trainers but would taupe colour go with black jeans as I think the black with black would be too much.

The ones I actually have, Why are these, - the same as the ones I linked to but with a zip. They come in more colours. Grey would be good with black?

starsinyourpies · 16/01/2018 21:40

Agree with fold bottom on jeans to just above ankle boots.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 16/01/2018 21:59

Get some funky trainers!

arousingcheer · 17/01/2018 00:46

I'm so glad someone else has said this. I had a gorgeous pair of very casual long biker-ish boots that made my skinny jeans look really balanced, like my bum, thighs and calves all belonged on the same body. Now they're worn out and it's all short boots and trainers.

I have tiny ankles and long (sz8) feet and an hourglass figure and in skinnies/trainers I look like a Robert Crumb cartoon.

moochypooch · 17/01/2018 07:56

I love long feet - I think they look more elegant. My feet took ages to grow to a size 7.... I still check that my feet don't look stumpy in shoes.

Pupsiecola · 17/01/2018 08:47

I'm loving the long feet love in this thread :)

We should keep the thread going all year round. I get very fed up with my options and how to style etc. I'm not even that tall (5'7).

arousing you've summed up perfectly how I feel in my skinnies and long boots. I'm an hourglass shape too so I feel the look balances my shoulders as well.

I like the idea of jeans rolled up a bit with ankle boots. It's not very inviting mid winter though!

Whyarethebestnamestaken · 17/01/2018 09:27

The main reason I am asking is that `i always wear knee high wedge boots and think it is a good look but am going on long haul flight to USA where it will be cold but don't want to have to mess around with long boots at security/on plane etc. so need alternative footwear.

I do like the idea of wedge trainers, especially without laces but then suppose they are ankle boots lol.

I don't mind having big feet but don't want them to look like I am wearing boats.

I’m a size 8, and recently got some wedge trainers - DP couldn’t believe they were size 8, they make my feet look so much smaller!

Nettletheelf · 17/01/2018 10:35

I’m a size 8 too, and I have never once worried about my feet looking big. They are in proportion to my height. I have long elegant fingers and long elegant toes, and I wear whatever shoes I bloody well like.

Even ballet pumps, which somebody upthread said make your feet look bigger...nobody will part me from my French Sole collection.

What is it with big feet fear? Are women worried about seeming unfeminine or not dainty enough? Is it the ugly sister factor, too big to fit the delicate glass slipper? Fuck that.

I would never wear wedge trainers because they make feet look too small and hoof-like.

WheresMyPudding · 17/01/2018 13:18

I have size 8 feet but am only 5ft 4" tall so I have to be very careful with shoes and jeans to get the right balance.
