Tights Under Trousers

This morning I was about to start my shift and was freezing out and very wet so I wore a pair of Boots to work as it was wet and was just changing my boots to my flats when one of my work colleagues remarked about the weather. I replied that it was a cold one, so cold infact that I had wooly tights on under my trousers.

She then asked why I was wearing tights under trousers and I told her I get cold waiting for public transport and also I go outside for a ciggie on my breaks.

She then said that wearing tights under trousers is wrong though to be honest I do not see what is wrong with this at all.

Ask her to show you the rule that says it's wrong Grin

Your colleague is correct. Tights under trousers is wrong and the thought makes me feel slightly wobbly. I may have issues.

The trousers would stick to the tights, making it hard to walk (which obviously defeats the whole purpose of trousers, you might as well just wear a tight skirt), and would probably either ride up, or ride down. I don’t care what anyone else wears, obviously, just don’t tell me. Or if you must share, then don’t get all offended if I pull a Confused face!

I thought that my mum was the only person who wore tights under her trousers. She goes in for the crimplene variety of trousers, so I can only imagine the amount of static charge she's building up every day.

Wrong how?

Years ago my least liked auntie told my mum she shouldn't wear tights under trousers as "that's for grannies". The fact she said it shouldn't be done indicates to me that in fact it should, because she was wrong about most things and a deeply unpleasant woman.

Am I the only one thinking "Uh oh rampant thrush"? Confused

My friend's husband is a roofer - he said that he wears tights under his trousers when it's freezing and so do many of his colleagues! Said he didn't give a toss what anyone thought, it stopped him freezing his nuts off so he would keep doing it!

Being fat and menopausal, I no longer have the need for extra layers, but I did used to do this when I felt the cold more. Not under jeans or tight trousers, but definitely under my work trews!

I wear culottes a lot and wear tights underneath them - usually patterned, crochet or fishnet so there is still a “gap” like you would have with bare legs. I also have knee socks I wear. Never under jeans though.

My dentist wears scrubs and told me when I was there the other day (freezing weather so we were chatting about being cold) that sometimes she wears tights and leggings underneath them, both at once.

Longjohns are superior, but tights I'll do in a pinch.
