Can anyone find me something gorgeous (a watch maybe?)

I have £500 to spend given to me by a loved one who doesn't want me to spend it on baby stuff or family stuff or put it in savings.
She has explicitly said it's for me to buy something lovely that I would otherwise not have bought.

Usually if I have any money from birthdays it usually gets spent on family days out or clothes and toys for the little one.

I like watches and have a few but nothing I really love wearing anymore as they were all fashion purchases that I look back on and wouldn't choose again.

Would £500 get me a lovely watch? I prefer masculine styles but tried on a mid sized men's watch thinking it would be perfect for me and it was just so bulky and thick.

Can Mumsnet help me to find one or help me to think outside the box and buy something else instead?

You could get an amazing used watch for £500. Or a lovely pair of timeless diamond earrings ? What do you like ?

I had a pair of diamond earrings that I never wore so I sold them last year.

I wear necklaces, but get frustrated that my hair always seems to tangle up in the chain.

I wouldn't be opposed to a used watch (or used jewellery)

Not £500 but I think the Olivia Burton watches are beautiful, they have jewellery too.

I know there are second hand watch shops in the lanes in Brighton , I'm sure there are other places too. Maybe give a few a call or go to an auction . There is an auction house near us that do specialist watch sales .

It seems a waste to be asking for ideas, almost like spending for the sake of it. I would keep the money tucked away somewhere until one day you see exactly the right thing. You'll know it when you see it. And if finding the right thing means a few days out over the next few months window shopping, so much the better.

I had been looking for a special bracelet for about 2 years and came close to buying one a few times but always held off because it seemed like too much money. Last summer I came across the absolutely perfect thing whilst browsing in Hatton Garden. It wasn't quite what I had envisaged but i knew it was the perfect one for me the second I saw it. I didn't hesitate about saying I'll take it and paying up for it. That was seven months ago and I have worn it every day since and it still makes me happy when I catch sight of it.
