Do you match it in the shop to your face/hand/wrist? Do you take your old bottle without you and try to match the colour in the shop?

Help!

Sorry, my bad. Live in the USA and close to a couple of sephoras. Was also a regular Sephora customer when I lived in France, Singapore and Dubai .... are there still none in the UK?

I mix my own using a few different foundations and lightening/darkening drops depending on the look I'm going for that day and my skin colour at the time.

At most a particular make up range has 20/25 shades and I don't think that's enough to give every person a 'perfect match' so you're better off creating it yourself, especially if you can find a foundation that gives the texture and coverage you like but not the exact shade.

KungFu me too. I'm much happier mixing my own. For anyone on a budget, ELF have just brought out a great range of products (lightening/glowy/blurring drops) for the purpose of customising your own.

There's a site called Findation were you put in all your existing/past foundation shades and it brings up all your matches in different brands

I have never been refused a sample. Just nip the sales speech in the bud by being firm that whilst you would be happy to return and buy, you need to try at home first. A sample pot usually gives a weeks worth which is plenty. That way you can try with your own moisturisers, primer, powder etc and apply it in your way. Crucially the lighting will be right.

I usually work my way round all the beauty counters I am interested in and come home with four or five to compare.
