Rigby and Peller has lost its Royal Warrant

The story is unclear whether the Queen still uses them or if the Palace was just annoyed about the book. I can't imagine anyone else getting the gig for the royal corseterie, however - hardly likely that they will ask someone from the M&S on Victoria Street to pop over with a few samples instead, is it?

And incredibly boring to read I'd imagine! I wonder if she was motivated to write this book out of some kind of spite. Rigby & Peller trade so much on their reputation as bra fitters to the Queen, so this woman must have known her book would have had a negative backlash for the company.

RippleEffects · 11/01/2018 22:07

Thank you for the cost info.

Maybe it is a case of no such thing as negative publicity, a get them back in the headlines thing.

I'm sitting here thinking maybe I could book a fitting at some point.

Without this thread stirred up by that book, I'd be thinking about buying something else on another thread - the things I've aspired too because of mumsnet!

Partyfops · 11/01/2018 22:08

Apparently she said that she gave advertising materials for the young princes to put in their rooms at Eton.

The article I read earlier was hilarious to think that the writer can't believe that offence was taken.

Here's the details of the Wacoal factory shop in Northamptonshire. Bras are normally £20-30, but when they have a sale you can get R&P, Freya etc bras for £10 with matching knickers for £4-5

I like the prima Donna range, which are usually £70-90 for the fanciest bras. About 30–40 for knickers m.

HadronCollider · 11/01/2018 22:38

But what did she say exactly?

BikeRunSki · 11/01/2018 22:40

I reckon at 90, Good Queen Liz has decided to go braless.

LaurieFairyCake · 11/01/2018 23:23

I bought two in the sale last week for £18 - right smugeroo I was Grin

squoosh · 11/01/2018 23:30

Wow. That sounds bargainous!

PickAChew · 11/01/2018 23:32

She'll be in triumph Doreen, no doubt.

brizzledrizzle · 12/01/2018 03:46

lobster, the queen has lost their support, they haven't lost hers.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 12/01/2018 07:42

Well, in a way the Queen has lost their support.

ihatethecold · 12/01/2018 08:05

I bought a R&Pbra a few years ago for £80.
It stretched after 3 months and was too big on the band so moved about.

Deathraystare · 12/01/2018 08:41

I once bought two bras from there when it was at Westfield (no longer there. £60 each. Unfortunately they were lacy , same style but one was really itchy! Back to the drawing board or M&S!

HildaZelda · 12/01/2018 17:47

I have to say it's at times like this (reading R&P prices) that I thank my lucky stars I'm only a 32b and can just nip to Primark and get a bra and thong set for around a fiver!
When I was younger I always wanted bigger boobs, but now I think being small is coming in handy.

A1Sharon · 12/01/2018 20:22

Rugby and Peller do bras for all sizes, not just bigger ones.
I usually spent £60 min on a bra there and that's 10 years ago. Bravissimo opened in my town so I go there, but you cannot beat a R&P bra. I'm going to go again next time I'm in England. Well worth it in my opinion.
The author in question was on the tv the other day, very surprised that this had happened. She said she didn't mention the actual fittings at all, just that she went to the palace. But I still think she was naive if she thought the back room boys at the palace would let that one go.

ProjectGainsborough · 12/01/2018 20:36

To be honest the quality is different now. I have a set that I bought when I got married, so 10 years ago. Looks as good as the day I bought it. But recently they have outsourced to a company in Belgium. Recent bra from them has stretched and gone grey, soooo.....

A1Sharon · 12/01/2018 20:41

WHY do they have to outsource everything?! The quality always dips.Sad
