Looking to update my wardrobe, any 2018 trends I should be investing in?

Looking to update my wardrobe for the new year, is there any key colours or shapes I should be investing in for 2018.. Had a look in the shops last weekend & the high street is still full of sale stuff...

Bright reds, pinks and purples seem to be the big colours in the S/S18 collections!
Pantone colour of the year is ultra-violet - i.e. bright purple!

I have been reading about cycling shorts 🤔🤤

vitaminC · 10/01/2018 19:14

Oh dear! Hmm

Macarena1990 · 10/01/2018 19:19

Rainbow stripes and a lot of Gucci!

celebrate30 · 10/01/2018 20:52

Oh goodness, I can't imagine wearing cycling shorts on the school run, my poor dc would be mortified!
Macarena I thought I saw some gucci style ribbon print in the highstreet, I wasn't imagining it so! Not my cuppa tea though...

Definitely brights, and I love the rainbows going on at the moment. Skinny scruffy jeans with a cashmere rainbow jumper and bright boots is my new uniform.

humanfemale · 11/01/2018 21:02

*adds rainbow striped cycling shorts to basket...

Pantone claimed ultraviolet to be the color of 2018, so I believe violet clothes will be omnipresent. Also, you can invest in something plaid printed and into fringed clothes, since they are fashionable for a while now. I am a fan of a work-leisure trend, which is like a combo of business and comfortable clothes, so I am rocking my comfy Birkenstock sandals while I am at work.

peachypetite · 12/01/2018 11:11

Probably better to steer clear of trends which will date horribly, and buy classics?

DelphiniumBlue · 12/01/2018 12:43

Rainbow cashmere and bright boots - sounds very cosy, can you give details/ links please?

Trends are necessary to update your classics so you look current. A cashmere or merino jumper with some colourful stripes (both Boden and M&S have this in stock) will not date horribly but will add the appropriate nod to trends. Or you think 'oh, red's in fashion, I'll maybe wear that red cardigan/shoes/jacket/scarf/whatever red item I have hidden away in my wardrobe a bit more this season.

PrimalLass · 12/01/2018 15:15

Oh good. I bought the Gap (non wool) rainbow stripe jumper.

CountFosco · 12/01/2018 18:17

PrimalLass I love that jumper, absolutely gorgeous.

sortingmyselfoutslowly · 12/01/2018 20:32

I want a rainbow jumper! Has anyone seen any? 🌈

namastayinbed · 14/01/2018 12:24

I'm going for a rainbow jumper and wide legged slouchy trousers.

Tentomidnight · 14/01/2018 19:20

CBeebies chic then? Not sure I'm quite ready to channel my inner Mr Tumble for SS18 Grin

sortingmyselfoutslowly · 14/01/2018 22:13

I have just bought two pairs of rainbow yoga pants on Amazon 😆 cheered me up anyway!

PrimalLass · 15/01/2018 18:05

Cbeebies chic? Good description. I called it Mothercare 0-5 the other day. No doubt we will look back and laugh, but it's a good change from all black and grey.

Alwaysinmyheart · 15/01/2018 19:10

Apparently cowboy boots are in this year!

NearlyChristmasNow · 15/01/2018 20:07

Whatever Meghan Markle wears 😁
