What shoes to wear with this dress?

I bought this dress in the sale yesterday for my brother's 40th (it looks better in RL than on these pictures!)

So what shoes would you put with it? Black pointy stilletos don't look right and as I'll have black tights on, sandals won't look right. Any thoughts? 🤔

Ooh that's lovely

A wedge shoe boot?

halfwitpicker · 09/01/2018 21:09

Silver heels? Strappy - ish?

Or these?

How far along the classic/quirky spectrum are you? You could wear whatever you wanted with that dress, it's lovely. Black pointy stilettos or flats would look very classic. Or you could wear black ankle boots or silver brogues if you want to stand out more.

MrsJBaptiste · 09/01/2018 21:41

I did wonder about some pointy ankle boots I've got but wasn't sure... I'm not quirky at all - bit of a sheep really! I do like meals but not too high!

I'm not quirky either but have a 1 year old and boots are working much better for me than heels practically - which is why I bought them but actually I love them (have wedge and flat) - I just feel a little cooler and more confident in them

(I really want those pointy ones, but don't need them!)

Bluntness100 · 09/01/2018 21:48

If you're wearing black tights the shoes or boots need to be black, anything else will look daft and you'll be staring at what will look like your huge feet all night, as will everyone else.

I'd have went for a highest black suede block heel shoe. A bit like this.

Definitely want black shoes, they're nice bluntness 👍

Where are those shoes from Bluntness?

Oooocrikeyitscold · 09/01/2018 22:33

Class black stiletto. Lovely dress

areyoubeingserviced · 09/01/2018 22:39

Go with the silver strappy Wearing black shoes will diminish the beauty of the dress.

HildaZelda · 09/01/2018 22:40

I wouldn't wear black tights with it. I'd go for nude/tan tights and I think the pointy black stiletto should work then.

littlem133 · 09/01/2018 22:40

I have this dress and it's so comfortable. I wear black tights and black shoe boots with it.

I wouldn't go for silver strappy at all.
I think something like this would work www.aldoshoes.com/uk/en_UK/women/footwear/heels/Brookshear-Black/p/51145656-98.

twinkledag · 09/01/2018 22:54

Black suede shoe boots - dressy ones!

eastlondoner · 09/01/2018 23:26

I'd wear nude tights and black shoes. Black tights would be too much I think.

eastlondoner · 09/01/2018 23:28

Just like the model in the photo Smile

ephemeralfairy · 10/01/2018 10:14

Yes shoe boots, wedge or block heel.

yawnyawnyawnyawn · 10/01/2018 12:18

Ive got that dress , I wore it to a December do with opaques and black patent high heels . It got lots of compliments .

EggsonHeads · 10/01/2018 12:20

Black court shoes with skin toned/black opaque stockings wouldwork best. Tights look v wrong with smart clothes.
