Anyone cut out booze & did it make a difference to your skin?

Thinking of cutting back on the booze to see if it makes a difference to my skin, seem to have aged over night... Not a massive drinker but enjoy a glass or two of wine in the evenings when dh gets in from work & a few g&ts at the weekend, thinking of cutting back to Saturday nights only... Also thinking of cutting back on sugar..

Was just popping on to post that I cut out (OK, DOWN, not out...) on sugar this time last year and it made a MASSIVE difference to my skin.

I was a total sugar addict before this, it was the main part of my diet!

I had just turned 40 and felt I was looking pretty haggard and dull-of-skin.

Within about a month of cutting out sugar, I suddenly noticed I had my younger-days 'glow' back. Also less puffy.

I dropped a couple of sizes too Grin if that's an incentive.

Never given up alcohol but I don't drink very much so don't know if I would notice much difference.

I also notice, when I start having sugar again (eg over Xmas) that I return to my AWFUL early afternoon lethargy, I actually almost fall asleep on the sofa.

Worth it, give it a try!

I used to drink a couple of wines every night and then weekends I'd have the same but with a few rum and cokes thrown in.

Last year, I cut down my drinking to weekends only every other month (i.e. I don't drink at all in Jan, Feb I only drink at weekends, March I don't drink at all, April I only drink at weekends, May I don't drink at all.... etc...).

It made a huge difference to my skin.

My skin looks brighter, smoother and more dewy. It also feels much softer and "plump" (can't think of the right word).

I think it's partly down to cutting out alcohol itself but also it's because my sleep massively improved. I didn't think I slept badly before but once I cut out the drink I really noticed an improvement in my sleep (sleep for longer, don't wake in the night, I'm the right temperature, don't toss and turn). This has also contributed to an improvement in my skin.

Plus, I feel much better and have more money.

Do it OP!

I'd do it OP. I'm doing dry January and then cutting back to weekends only. I did it last year and it all went a bit tits up in the latter part of the year :)
It definately makes a difference. As does drinking more water (I'm terrible at remembering to do this)
And to sleep as previous poster said. I think alcohol tends to make me pass out in a stupor (even after one or two glasses of vino) and its not 'quality ' sleep.

I'm going to try to cut back to a glass of wine or two at the weekends & see if that helps. Agree about the poor sleep after a few glasses...
