Size 9 shoes

I have size 9 feet (yes, really size 9, no I couldn't squeeze my feet into an 8). On top of that my feet are also awkwardly shaped. This means mail order can be really impractical as I really need to try things on and it's a total pita to get to the post office to send things back.

I used to buy all my shoes from Brantano.

Can anyone suggest any high street shops that routinely stock more than the token size 9? Or I might be convinced to try mail order again if anyone can suggest somewhere that stocks lots of variety and has a robust returns policy!

I asked for an 8 in Office and was given a 41. So annoying when I took them back.

Clarks do size 9. I’ve got work shoes from there. I found particular size 8 Sketchers fitted too.
In summer I’m in Birkenstocks.
Dr Martens in winter. Both easy enough to get in 9s.
I don’t find it too hard to find size 9s now. 10-15 years ago I mostly went for men’s shoes.

I’ve found DrMartens size 9 are good, but they may not be to your taste, I love them but can’t put up with painful feet so if they aren’t dainty I’m not worried because my feet aren’t and it’s ok for me. I can only afford to shop in their sales though. Returns are very simple, I can terurn using shops so don’t have to get to Post offices, the shops I return are open much longer hours.Worth a look online

For non mail order, definitely get a few pairs delivered to a Next store, try on there and return immediately.

Dd has size 9 feet and it is the bane of her life.

I feel her pain Ursula. Mine too. I joke that I became a civil engineer so I could wear Work boots most of the time.

Hotter are good and actually have some nice shoes inamongst some of their, ahem, more 'practical' styles - plus size 9s are always in the sale. They are the comfiest shoes ever!

Long tall Sally stock brands in larger sizes where these exist - converse, nine West , blowfish.... also women's fit new balance trainers. They also have the odd 50% off all shoes promotion so worth subscribing to promotions.
