Costume (HA!) Jewellry

Katymac · 24/04/2007 20:55

OK I have major allergies

I can do gold - I can do white gold for short periods - never tried platinum

Desparatly need earings in white metal (ie white gold - hopefully) - with diamonds & saphires (ideally fake ones)

Any ideas

Can't spend much

Glass - yes
Shell - think so - coral is OK

But won't the backs be metal?

OP posts:
ledodgy · 24/04/2007 21:56

Can you not paint the backs with clear nail varnish? I have a nickel allergy and this works.

stitch · 24/04/2007 21:56

errr, even if you were getting fake jewellry it would cost a fortune.

JackieNo · 24/04/2007 21:57

Why not ask one of the arts and crafters to make you some?

Katymac · 24/04/2007 21:59

I also have plastic/acrylic allergies so clear nail varnish never worked

I have had some costume jewellry made with gold hooks (I just alternate the dangly bit)

But I never got any white gold stuff (crafters use silver generally)

But if you asked them, maybe they could find something for you?

Katymac · 24/04/2007 22:00

I looked at Argos & H Samuel - but I think the reasonable ones are a bit small

Could you buy some big plain hoops and put other things on them yourself? charms, beads, whatever?

Katymac · 24/04/2007 22:08

Are these any good?

OP posts:
JackieNo · 24/04/2007 22:14

They're pretty. Can't link, but if you go to QVC (I know), and click on jewellery, then under 'departments' click on 'gold', then on 'white gold' there are some rather nice looking chandelier earrings for £20 - item number 676255.

JackieNo · 24/04/2007 22:19

You've been to Argos - did you see those ones?

Katymac · 24/04/2007 22:20

Hmm - not sure

Like these?

OP posts:
Katymac · 24/04/2007 22:21

Like the Argos ones

JackieNo · 24/04/2007 22:22

H Samuel ones are very classic. Not entirely convinced though.

Some bits also at Next .

Whizzz · 24/04/2007 22:22

I could get gold ear wires & make dangly bits for you, although jump rings used for dangles would have to be gold plated

Katymac · 24/04/2007 22:26

Thanks Whizz - I guess I want studs atm - cos of the awards thingie - I have borrowed my nana's "Diamond & Sapphire" (HA) necklace & it's quite old fashioned

What about these

OP posts:
Katymac · 25/04/2007 07:42

I have put the necklace I am wearing on my profile
