If it's not in the sale buy it anyway?

There are a couple of winter items I want to buy but they have not gone in the sale. I don't normally follow sales so not sure how they work in Dec/ Jan. Am I safe to say that if they do not go in the sale by end of 1st week in Jan they probably won't? I want them, ideally discounted, but will buy them anyway. I am just scared of buying them today and then tomorrow seeing they have some money off.

WWYD?

Where are they from?

Some stores do add things into the sale. The sale items now will have been around since September or so but many add more items to their range in Nov/Dec to go through winter at full price.

If you can, sort by Newly Added on the site. If it's near the top it's unlikely to go in the Jan sales.

You have to ask yourself if it is something that you cannot live without
If your answer is yes then wait for it to be in the sale...and it will be..you just need to bide your time

Mint Velvet, WYSE London and Jigsaw. All a bit pricey. Also some bedlinen from The White Company.

I’d probably just buy it, tbh.

I’ve never regretted paying full price for stuff I’ve been eyeing off for ages. It’s the things I bought just because they’re on sale that usually end up crap.

BanyanChristmasTree · 31/12/2017 12:26

I am guessing that they have low stock of what I want or they sell well. There must be some algorithm that sorts what goes in and what doesn't. I totally get it. I just don't want to fork out hundreds of pounds when, if they go in the sale, even with a bit off, I'll save quite a lot. I haven't bought anything much this winter as these are the things I want.

Have a look on next and John Lewis websites
They sell Jigsaw and Mint Velvet and may have reductions there

I bought some stuff on line which then went on sale. I hadn't worn it and still had the receipt so went back to the shop (jigsaw) and explained how annoying it was. They refunded me the difference. They were great about it and I shop at Jigsaw a lot, partly because of that. The other tip I'd give you is to buy online (you can pick it up from a store) as that gives you a longer period to return it and you will also get a return on sale items that way, not an exchange.

pixelchick10 · 01/01/2018 08:03

I would wait a few weeks

CountFosco · 01/01/2018 09:26

I feel your pain. Jigsaw seems to have been one of the last retailers to start their sale so I'd wait a bit yet, I think there will be further reductions in the new year.

mrsmildred · 01/01/2018 09:41

I'd buy at full price, if they're going to go in the sale it will happen this month, and before your refund period runs out (check the refund period though). As a PP said, lots of places will refund you difference if you just call them first, it saves them processing a return and refund as much as it helps you.

But it might mean you'll have to keep the tags on and not wear the items until you are sure though!

PNGirl · 01/01/2018 10:02

It's not an algorithm - there's a whole team of merchandisers who look at all the different factors, decide what goes in and set a price. They will already know what is continuing into next season and what they're going to add in. I would hold out if you aren't sure. You could email them - they might tell you if something is already earmarked as non sale.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 01/01/2018 11:31

You could buy it now at full price, keep the receipt, then if it goes in the sale buy another one and return the first.

Nan0second · 01/01/2018 11:36

Even if it doesn’t go in the sale, white stuff /company has regular 15% off

Mulberrysilk · 01/01/2018 11:41

Mint velvet are unlikely to add more to the sale.

BusterGonad · 01/01/2018 11:54

I agree with Wanna I always keep the receipt and keep my eye on full price items!
