Anastasia Brow Wiz only lasted two bloody months!!!!

Finally gave into the hype and bought one in October (24th to be precise) and have been really enjoying it.

It ran out this morning.

Ok so I use it 5/7 days a week but that's in conjunction with another pencil (as the colour isn't exactly right). I fill my brows in lightly/normally/in a natural and feathery style so no overly heavy use.

Really expected more Confused. All my other (cheaper) brow pencils last much much longer than two months.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I haven't used this particular one, but I find that all twist up brow pencils last 2 minutes so I don't buy them any more. I had one from the Look Fantastic advent that I opened in October and it's long finished. I've also found the same with the MAC ones in the past.

I now prefer the tinted gels instead with a mascara type wand as they last much longer.

JesusTapdancingChrist · 30/12/2017 13:30

Brow gels don't work for me as they can only cling to/emphasise hairs that actually exist and mine are a bit sparse for that. I need to actually draw hair strokes to fill them in.

Just reluctant to buy another one when I know it isn't going to last very long. The two other pencils I use (one by L'Oréal + one by a Korean brand) last at least twice as long and cost less than half as much. Will be sticking to them from now on I think.

I usually buy Bobby Brown eye brow pencils, last around 6 months of every days use.

chloechloe · 30/12/2017 14:10

Have you tried the gels that have fibres in, which help fill in your brows? Benefit do a great one which has just been taken off the market but should be reissued soon. Maybe some MNers can recommend other ones. I've also heard good things about Glossier Boy Brow.

JesusTapdancingChrist · 30/12/2017 14:19

Yes I've tried Gimme Brow and hated it.

Boy Brow doesn't have a colour that would even come close to working for me.

Like I said, I'm not really interested in brow gels. Pencils work best for my brows. Just gutted that the value for money is so poor with the ABH one as it has a really great formula and applies beautifully.

Yep I loved my brow wiz but couldn't justify that price so regularly. In contrast the dip brow pomade would last literally years if it didn't dry out (ok I'm still using is years later but it's not as good as it used to be).

Shame :/

chloechloe · 30/12/2017 14:34

8days try storing the pot upside down. Anything in those types of pots tends to last longer if stored upside down - same with MAC paint pots.

JesusTapdancingChrist · 30/12/2017 14:38

8Days Yep I bought a pot of dip brow a few years ago. Didn't care for the product at all but was astounded at how quickly it turned to a dry, crumbly, unusable mess Shock.

I love ABH dipbrow, 1 pot lasts me 6 months mate be more and I use it daily. I have very few eyebrow hairs and I love the way I can draw the exact shape I want and draw strokes on. It does dry out slightly but only after months of use, maybe try it again as it's much more cost effective and I've not found any other product that comes close

FizzmasXx · 30/12/2017 15:04

Try the pomade instead of the wiz

MooMinCow · 30/12/2017 15:09

Soap and glory do one that’s a copy of the Brow Wizz (and a lot cheaper!). I actually prefer it!

JoanDarc · 30/12/2017 16:14

Haven't tried the wiz, but I swear by the pomade. As it can dry out I collect a small bit of the pomade on my brush then work with it on the front of my hand, means the jar is never open for more than 10 seconds

I've been using it daily for 9 + months and it's never dried out. Like you my brows are sparse (especially the tail) so I need to paint feather strokes on. I'm totally converted.
I use the morph brush with it number M158.

MargotDear · 30/12/2017 16:18

The pomade dries out so so quickly

JesusTapdancingChrist · 30/12/2017 16:19

Definitely won't be trying the pomade again. Just really disliked how it applied and looked on me and the colour was wrong.

The Soap and Glory pencil is great but comes in two colours. Blonde and chocolate if I remember correctly Hmm. I have naturally silver/grey hair that contains zero warm tones so neither works for me. Same goes for the NYX Micro Brow pencil which I think is actually better than the ABH one but, again, there is no colour option for grey hair.

Most infuriating.

Appreciate all the suggestions though Flowers.

I use the Laura Mercer eyebrow powder with angled brush it lasts more than 12 months.

8DaysAWeek · 30/12/2017 18:40

Oooh Chloe good tip. I've chucked out an unfinished MAC paint pot before after it dried out.

LazyArseAvocado · 30/12/2017 19:35

I have like three hairs between the two brows. I found Ka-Brow by Benefit really good and it lasted ages. Now I use Wonderbow and it's excellent.

oneoldmare · 30/12/2017 20:47

I used to use Anastasia brow but now use NYX fine brow pencil and it's a great dupe. Lasts me 4 - 5 months and I use everyday. Bonus is it's only £9 I think

8DaysAWeek · 30/12/2017 23:19

I bought the NYX brow pomade hoping it would be a good dupe but it was not :/ too smudgy. Might try the pencil as I like other NYX products

JesusTapdancingChrist · 30/12/2017 23:22

8Days if they have your shade then I highly recommend you try the NYX pencil (micro brow). It is practically identical to the ABH one at a fraction of the cost.

Lovely fine nib and that great slightly waxy texture that grabs at the hairs and stays put for ages 👍.

I can't rave enough about MakeUpForEver (MUFE) aquabrow!!

I've used it for years, after I bought it on holiday in the states long before you could get it here.

It doesn't budge. I have very sparse brows so I have to actually draw on my skin and no pencil stays on. One tube of this stuff can easily last me 6 months

You can buy a set with the wee brush from debenhams here

But I prefer to use my own brush (a nars one) and buy just the tube here or
here

Nyx in boots so something similar in a tube that I used in an emergency but it's not a patch on the MUFE stuff
