Cropped trousers, common and chavvy or not?

Talking to my Mum yesterday about buying some new clothes and cropped trousers came up.

I said I quite fancied some cropped wide leg linen trousers, my Mum was almost shocked and literaly begged me not to buy any as they are common and chavy.

I have to say that I personally don't like cropped jeans or cropped tracksuit bottoms/utility trousers mainly because they are just not my style and they are worn by chavvy people a lot around here.

But surely not all cropped trousers are veiwed as common and chavvy? Opinions please.

i think it depends on the rest of your look - my mate wears cropped trousers in a boden-stylee and always looks quite posh though maybe a tad middle-aged?

i think ones from white stuff or similar might look ok?

Gameboy · 23/04/2007 13:09

White ones chavvy IMHO (especially with gold jewellery...)

LIZS · 23/04/2007 13:09

Isn't it more how you wear them ie cropped top, low waist showing flesh/piercings or white with exposed knickers/g string

Beetrootccio · 23/04/2007 13:11

skinny jeans with large tur ups are nice - I am not keen on cropped jeans/ etc

Swizzler · 23/04/2007 13:12

not for the sturdy of ankle (that's me out)

Chocolateface · 23/04/2007 13:12

I think it depends on your overall look. It just happens alot of chavs wear them.

I think it depends on the style of the trousers. Like you say, flutterbee, cropped tracksuit bottoms are very chavvy imho. But there are some really nice, more 'tailored' ones about that aren't at all common. It also depends on how you wear them and what you wear with them. It's too broad to generalise really.

No they arent, cropped tracky bottoms are though, in my opinion.
