Your fail-safe black eyeliner?

I'm sure it's an oft asked question but I thought I'd ask you anyway!

What eyeliner do you go back to time and time again? I'm determined to crack the art of winged eyeliner (it's on my soon to be compiled New Year's resolution list) and would love to know which eyeliner will best assist me in this. One that's very black, that gives sharp lines and does not budge.

Thanks!

Benefit they're real can be amazing when you first buy it and it won't budge but seems to dry very easily and become a nightmare. I've got a really good sephora one but it's not waterproof so lasts about half an hourl. I find the best ones are the ones with the little pot and the tiny brush.

www.boots.com/bourjois-liner-pinceau-eyeliner-10114896 Been using this one for a few years (well, obviously repeated purchases, not just one single eyeliner Grin

Absolutely perfect. Soft, long brush means it doesn't drag so you get a really smooth line. It is also quite "wet" so you can do several strokes in one place easily. And correct the odd off bit with a cotton bud without a problem.

Have tried others and hate them in comparison to this one. Love. Love. Love.

Not mine but DD has KatVonD Tattoo (fine liner pen type)

Rally lasts , easy to apply and she does a killer 'wing' without needing tape or bits of plastic.

EverythingEverywhere1234 · 18/12/2017 20:25

Soap and glory supercat. I've tried several others but S&G lasts well, doesn't seem to transfer or shift much and it always comes out neat!

TobleroneBoo · 18/12/2017 20:26

Stila stay all day 😍

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 18/12/2017 20:30

Another vote for S&G Supercat. It’s £7, easy to apply and stays put. It’s my holy grail eyeliner and I’ve been through them all.

redavocado · 18/12/2017 21:13

Kat von D is the best I've used. I got a free sample at Kings Cross station aaaaaaages ago and it's still going strong. Easy to use and stays on all day, no smudging. It costs a fortune though. I'm not looking forward to having to buy the next one!

Urban decay 24/7 is really good but a bit on the pricey side. Rimmel scandaleyes is a really good alternative also Smile

Avon glimmerstick is my failsafe eyeliner.

Thebluedog · 18/12/2017 21:23

Estée Lauder is one I go back to time and time again

Animation86 · 18/12/2017 21:29

I’ll use the Rimmel pens but for jet black boldness I use maybellines gel eyeliner in a pot.

GreyTS · 18/12/2017 23:29

Mac fluidline pen, have tried everything and always come back to this, super easy to use and can do a thin or thick line. Next best probably Charlotte Tibury the feline flick

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 18/12/2017 23:31

I like the Chanel liquid eyeliner but the best one i have ever used is Collection's blue lid waterproof pot. Cheap as anything and lasts well.

thefirstmrsrochester · 18/12/2017 23:36

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. Nothing else has compares.

BlazingPaddles · 19/12/2017 11:20

Thanks for your reviews people. Kat Von D sounds too good to resist! Smile

Kat Von D.

Nothing better.

ReachOutAndTouchDave · 19/12/2017 11:29

Lancome Artliner and Kat von D Tattoo Liner. Both brilliant. Prefer the Lancome personally, but only because it's what I'm used to. Old dog new tricks etc.

Used to be Rimmel glam eyes (careful, there are two that look very similar: you want glam eyes not exaggerate which has a terrible applicator). Soap and glory cat eyes is lovely but as a felt tip doesn't always work well over shadow, so I normally use it as a first layer and then go over with liquid. It's much more controllable than liquid!

But recently I saw online that apparently makeup gallery in Poundland do a really good liquid liner so I gave it a shot for £1, and I was gobsmacked as it's actually amazing! I got black and a slate grey one and both are great. Lasts all day, easy to use, dries quickly. I would never have thought to try a £1 liner (I'm not a makeup snob and use drugstore items more than high end) but I've now switched over to it as my new staple.

slug · 19/12/2017 12:16

Kat Von D. I draw the outline first in an ordinary pencil (easier to erase and get right) then go over it with Kat Von D tattoo liner

Sailorjerrycherry · 19/12/2017 12:19

Going against the grain here but I actually found Kat Von D very drying!!
If you’re on a budget maybelline gel eyeliner pot is fantastic; otherwise Illamasqua precision ink is beautiful and lasts ages.

Santasbigredbobblehat · 19/12/2017 12:23

Lancôme artliner.

Opheliasgoldenwine · 19/12/2017 13:21

I currently use the Lancôme art liner which is really good and easy to use but I think it's like £23 so that's something to consider. Staying power 9/10, application 8/10.

Maybelline gel is really, really good, great staying power, comes with a wand to use so that's handy. Think it's £7/ £8. Staying power 8/10, application 9/10.

17 Tattoo Me- the best staying power I've ever seen in an eyeliner but a bit fiddly to apply. I think it's £4- the staying power would last through a war. Staying power 1000000/10, application 6/10.

Benefit Push Up- good at first but dries so quickly. Application is fine, nothing to rave about. Staying power a bit meh. 6.5/10 for staying power, 7/10 for application.

Kat Von D. Amazing stuff. 9/10 for application, 9/10 for staying power.

Rimmel glam eyes. Good for price, not as good as high end IMO. Application 7/10, staying power 6/10.

Soap and Glory cat eye. Application is good but pigment isn't the best. Staying power is okay. Application 8.5/10, staying power 7/10.

All opinions are my own. If I think of more, I'll add Grin

BlazingPaddles · 19/12/2017 13:34

And 10/10 to you for that comprehensive list of reviews! Thanks.

Grin
