Anyone know if M&S are likely to reduce their cashmere before Christmas?

I’ve my eye on one of the colour block cashmere jumpers but can’t bring myself to pay £125 for it.

There was 20% off with the Sparks offers on Friday, don't know if it's still active?

Cakescakescakes · 18/12/2017 13:35

It’s not showing up on my sparks offers Sad Even with 20% off I would snap it up. It’s the loveliest jumper on.

It's not on mine anymore either, sorry. Other Stories has 20% off it's crew neck cashmere sweater online, if of interest.

Lotsofsausage · 20/12/2017 09:10

uniqlo usually has cashmere on offer and online delivery is fab.

Arealhumanbeing · 20/12/2017 09:46

If you love it, buy it! (Unhelpful)

Cakescakescakes · 20/12/2017 14:03

arealhumanbeing you see that is the kind of enabling that I maybe need!!! It’s the specific pattern of the jumper that I love so other stores are no good unfortunately Sad

Buy it and get a gift receipt, if it goes in the sale, buy it again and return original!

NisekoWhistler · 20/12/2017 14:38

What Tana said

Terrylene · 20/12/2017 14:48

If you really want it, then buy it.

If you wait for the sale you will

a. miss it and they won't have the size you want so you will be paying what is still a lot of money for something that doesn't fit properly.

b. ruin your Christmas looking for the sale.

c. If you really like it and wear it a lot before the sale, you will have got your extra money's worth out of it.

and what Tanaqui said.

I am not an expert - have only ever bought cheap Sainsbury's. Which varies from really good to shrinking.

Will look at Bora with interest.

(any good ideas for what to do with shrunk cashmere?)

Terrylene · 20/12/2017 15:25

Who knew you could spend £600 on a jumper

Arealhumanbeing · 20/12/2017 15:37

Buy it and get a gift receipt, if it goes in the sale, buy it again and return original!

Totally do this. But do buy it now!

(any good ideas for what to do with shrunk cashmere?)

Yes. Soak it through then work in deep hair conditioner. Lay it on a towel and gently stretch it back into shape.

Cashmere is suppose to bobble. You will need a cashmere comb (Amazon or eBay) to keep on top of them.

Terrylene · 20/12/2017 15:46

Will Waitrose Pure do? Presumably you need to rinse it back out?

ilovecherries · 20/12/2017 15:46

I've always found m&s cashmere good quality for the price. Cashmere bobbles no matter what you pay for it, it needs combed very regularly. And it holds its price well - I've just sold 6 five-seven year old M&S jumpers on eBay, for about half what I paid - given they've been worn non stop every winter, I thought that was good. And they were still in excellent condition, just huge on me (as I've shrunk, not the cashmere's fault). If you can afford it, my vote is buy and enjoy :)

ilovecherries · 20/12/2017 15:48

And which one is it ? (Nosey!)

Arealhumanbeing · 20/12/2017 16:51

Will Waitrose Pure do? Presumably you need to rinse it back out?

Any will do. Yes, rinse it out with lukewarm water and roll it in a towel to dry. Finish it off on the radiator.

Didiusfalco · 20/12/2017 17:01

Now I want to know which jumper it is? I wouldn’t rely on it being in the sale though - M&S don’t seem to follow any particular logic about what goes in the sale.

CanIBuffalo · 20/12/2017 17:06

I know it's not what you're after OP but John Lewis' cashmere is great.
I sent Woolvers back. The best I've ever had was a boyfriend cardigan from Tesco the year they first started selling cashmere. It was amazing.
