What footwear do your 40 yr old DH's wear

DP looking for new footwear, trying to bridge the gap between formal footwear and trainers. Any ideas appreciated

My DP is 44 and he wears a pair of Dune boots (think the style is Simon/heavy duty ankle boots) when he's not wearing smart work shoes or trainers. They might not be what he's after but Dune seems to have lots of different styles to bridge that formal/casual gap.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 17/12/2017 15:22

desert boots.

NC4now · 17/12/2017 15:23

Desert boots here too.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/12/2017 15:26

DM brogues
Skechers casual things (the men's ones are not as ugly as the women's) Like this sort of thing (so probably too trainer-ish).

Lotsofsausage · 20/12/2017 09:14

clarks originals for casual, loake brogues for smart, and a variety of trainers - plain plimsoles for in-between. look at Veja.

LadyFairfaxSake · 20/12/2017 10:06

I wear Timberland boots or shoes mostly. RM Williams boots too.

SandAndSea · 20/12/2017 10:13

He's not 40 (anymore) but has some nice skechers.

BlueEyedWonder · 20/12/2017 17:02

New Balance Trainers
Camper boots
DM shoes

billysboy · 20/12/2017 17:05

rm williams boots or blundstones

CountFosco · 20/12/2017 17:05

Adidas Samba or Gazelles in Navy. He's worn them for 20 years (not the same pair). I despair!

WhooooAmI24601 · 20/12/2017 17:38

DH has a few lovely pairs of boots and shoes from Jones and Schuh, but lives in nasty, nasty cobalt blue nikes which potentially contain plague and typhoid fever because they're so revolting.

Whiterabbitears · 20/12/2017 18:00

My DH used to wear leather biker boots with jeans and a shirt. He looked great. He now wears trainers all the time with those joggers with the elasticated ankle Sad he is 42 and seems to think he is trendy, I think he is delusional Hmm worse the trainers are expensive but make him look like Wayne Slob (Harry Enfield) I long for his leather boots again.

Ellboo · 20/12/2017 18:21

Mine wears gorgeous lace up leather boots by Meermin (not sure if spelt right - Majorcan company). Kind of like a classier DM boot. With slightly rolled jeans.

TheOtherGirl · 20/12/2017 18:24

DH is mid 40s. He wears classic DM shoes or Skecher trainers.

Tanfastic · 20/12/2017 18:34

Dh is 52 and he wears desert boots or Chelsea boots in the winter and converse in the summer.

Haint · 20/12/2017 18:48

A nice sensible walking boot 🙄

LiDLrichardsPistachioSack · 20/12/2017 18:53

Smart Vans with laces. Sometimes a desert boot or a Birkenstock clog!

Blankscreen · 20/12/2017 18:59

Ted baker brogues, Hugo boss trainers which are navy so look a smart and Hudson Lace up dark brown leather boots.
In summer either sebago or Timberland deck shoes.

idontlikealdi · 20/12/2017 19:04

I’ve just bought some desert boots for DH for Christmas. Hope he’ll wear them!

brogueish · 20/12/2017 19:22

Mine is 42. Either black DM boots or leather converse. He wears them until they literally start to fall apart, at which point I replace them because he will insist that they're "fine"...

onlyonaTuesday · 20/12/2017 19:22

Paul smith trainers, Russell and Bromley loafers, Clark’s desert boots

nancy75 · 20/12/2017 19:26

Clark’s desert boots, Stan Smith trainers, Chelsea boots or converse.

YouWereRight · 20/12/2017 19:27

Chukka boots in winter. Converse one stars in summer. Over and over.

ChocolatePHD · 20/12/2017 22:37

Desert boots, timberlands, or Stan smiths.
