Anyone want to find me a wedding dress that isn't a wedding dress

NormaStanleyfletcher · 21/04/2007 20:42

I am getting wed in June, a fairly informal (humanist) do, and I need a frock. I don't want a wedding dress, and I don't want to wear a cream suit.

I am 5'2", I am now a size 10/12, and have size E/F norks.

I am thinking of some nice summery dress and want to spend up to about £100.

Any suggestions??

Lulu - they probably aren't any more - and they keep heading south after feeding the third!

How about some of the bridesmaids dresses? They are less bridal (well, d'oh) but still formal and I doubt most guests would wear one ( remembers some of the outfits at her own wedding)

you might be right chocolateface. in that case nsf would be better finding a little botuique somewhere...

ViscountessPetitLapin · 21/04/2007 21:20

Maybe you should change to NorkaStanleyFletcher!

glassslipper · 21/04/2007 21:21

boutique even...

ViscountessPetitLapin · 21/04/2007 21:23

What about hiring one from a dress agency?

JackieNo · 21/04/2007 21:39

This one and this from Laura Ashley are pretty. This could be stunning too.

JackieNo · 21/04/2007 21:42

I love this dress , but I'm not sure it's enough of a statement one for a wedding?

berolina · 21/04/2007 21:51

I'm an inch shorter than you, dark haired/paleish skinned, and wore a flowing sleeveless green silk dress for my wedding (it was a generous size 10) - came down to just over my ankles. Looked lovely with a bouquet of yellow gerbera (June wedding too). You can borrow it if you like (CAT me). I have minuscule norks though so am not sure what the effect there would be.

berolina · 21/04/2007 21:54

oh sorry, didn't see you wanted sthg fitted - offer still stands though

NormaStanleyfletcher · 21/04/2007 22:03

Sorry all - DD is not well so won't be here for a bit - keep the suggestions coming though (you are all really helpful and I love you all!)

Kisses and get well wishes to NormasStanleyFletcherette!

NormaStanleyfletcher · 23/04/2007 12:24

I really like the black and cream floral dress here but would probably prefer some colour rather than monocrome...

Any more ideas? (and a shameless bump for the weekday crowd as DD has runs and I am at home instead of at work)

and I like the white one here but I need wider straps to accomodate my bra, so no thin straps or haterneck

Anyone?

The grey dress is pretty

I am building a list now so that I can access this later - rather like twigs 'what I have eaten today' thread.

Though you are all more than welcome to come and join me

love that great dress!
also really like this

NormaStanleyfletcher · 23/04/2007 13:27

Purple - I like that but was trying to get a bit of colour (trying to be braver with colour, though Trinity will tell you that I only wear black I should point out that I just happened to be wearing black both times I saw her!)

What about this? www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10001_19638_348473_-1
Sorry can't link. It would go with your colouring but isn't strictly green.

NormaStanleyfletcher · 23/04/2007 13:36

Oh - I can't get to that address.

Does it have straps?

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 23/04/2007 13:36

wildwoman's turquoise dress

NormaStanleyfletcher · 23/04/2007 13:38

Ohhh - I really like that

Thank you Mrs Badger...really must learn how do do basic computer stuff!

anxiousoldlady · 25/04/2007 14:26

haven't read whole thread so apologies if someone's suggested it but have you tried Coast? A bit over £100 but lovely dresses, I got married in a blue dress from there last year, it cost £120, totally worth it plus I can wear it again as doesn't look like a wedding dress!
