What to wear as an after dinenr speaker for the Rotary Club?

I've got to go and do a talk for them in a few weeks and have no idea what to wear other than it probably ought to be a dress. How posh is the Rotary Club as not sure how formal I ought to be.

I have a new dress which is knee length and not too low cut, but would be mortified if I got there and then the guys were in dinner jackets and I felt like I should be in an evening dress.

Thanks

hi stripey, the men will probably be in casual day suits, not dinner jackets but still quite smart. Will you be speaking at night as this may be more formal than a daytime meeting.

Anything smart will be fine and they wont judge you but be prepared for a bunch of basically old men!

Thanks btw. Some friends have told me to wear a low cut dress and this will distract the men so they won't notice if I'm talking a load of pish.

I wouldn't wear evening dress unless it actually specifies black tie.

Talking about midwifery in Africa - so maybe a hippy skirt and birkinstocks

DOnt wear evening dress unless they say and ask when they tell oyu the date how formal it is.

At the local probus club (same kind of thing) women usually wear trouser suits if they are older (ie 60 plus) and younger people just smart clothing. ( I dont belong to the club, just work in the room where it is held!)

I'd ask the person who booked you to do the talk. Good luck, btw.

Go naked, that way you will be remembered for a long, long time!
