  1. Crocs - good or bad?
  2. Boden - good or bad?
  3. the difference between footless tights and legginggs
  4. The point od footless tights. Surely tights are purely so you don't get uncpmfortable barefoot in shoes. If I had footless tights I would need to wear socks..

why not just wear what you think looks nice? to thine own self be true and all that.

scatterbrain · 18/04/2007 21:17

Hmmmm - depends who you ask really - and how old they are - and I suspect how posh !!!

For me - crocs and boden are good ! Footless tights I wore in the 80s when I was a little lamb, I believe they are thinner than leggings ! I wouldn't wear either now - I am too old (40) and too fat (16).

Intesretsing to see what replies you get !

SlightlyMadSecret · 18/04/2007 21:17

Ohh - I don't want to wear any of them...I just see all these posts on MN and I don't understand them

imo
crocs bad
boden alright sometimes
footless tights longer than leggings
you can't wear tights with feet with ballet pumps so therefore footless tights i reckon

MrsBadger · 18/04/2007 21:18
  1. comfy and practical but not stylish
  2. good for the odd item, bad to wear head-to-toe, also expensive
  3. footless tights are more see-through (like tights but without feet), leggings are made of cotton t-shirt type fabric.
  4. They're purely fashion items, also used to make very short skirts/dresses more decent. No practical use wrt footwear.
PeachyChocolateEClair · 18/04/2007 21:20

crocs- Ok there are lots of styles to choose from, they neednt really be fuchsia coloured and clumpy

boden- oh nooooooooooo (imo, most poelpe here like it, I just cant see anything I fancy enough on there)

footless tights reallya re tights, just that- but footless. leggings are more like knitted lycra jersey iteeems, rather like what we called ski pants in the 80's but minus the bizarre foot strap

I wear footless types with boots and socks because I have big feet and my tights are uncomfy sometimes. Tahts the only reason I know of...

mytwopenceworth · 18/04/2007 21:21

oh ok, erm...

1 - dunno, never seen them
2 - dunno, never looked at site
3 - dunno - probably tights are nylon underwear and leggings are lycra clothing?
4 - dunno.

SlightlyMadSecret · 18/04/2007 21:23

Shall we stick together then M2PW?

mytwopenceworth · 18/04/2007 21:23

i think we'd better!!

scatterbrain · 18/04/2007 21:23

Darrell - why can't you waer normal tights with ballet pumps ? I wouldn't be seen dead in footless tights - but I do waer tights and ballet pumps - am I comitting a cardinal sin ?

fryalot · 18/04/2007 21:24

Footless tights are great for when you want to wear a skirt, but you don't want the tights pulling on your toes.

(I wear them with socks, and boots)

fryalot · 18/04/2007 21:25

In fact, I have been known to cut the feet off normal tights, just for the comfort of not having the toe pulling thing.

DarrellRivers · 18/04/2007 21:27

I have never seen anyone under the age of 20 wearing ballet pumps with tights even in winter.I don't think they look as fashionable with tights.
I think if you wear proper tights with pumps you are being practical rather than fashion-crazy.
It is easier to achieve this look however since the weather has got warmer.(have got my pumps out of the cupboard finally to wear)

scatterbrain · 18/04/2007 21:38

I'm not sure how to take that really !

I take it I am commiting a sin against "fashion" ?

scatterbrain · 18/04/2007 21:41

Actually I am not sure that I am - I think a size 16, 40 yr old senior manager would look a complete pratt wearing footless tights to work with ballet pumps !!!

SlightlyMadSecret · 18/04/2007 21:43

I shalln't tell you what my 50yr old mum wore teh other weekend (in public) then....dear me MN style gurus would rip her to shreads...

  1. Crocs - bad. Big time. They are HORRID.
  2. Boden - bad. Its time has passed.
  3. Footless tights should be thinner.
  4. FTs for dance classes or as a layer for long smocks or short dresses - looks OK on the under 21's in a 'oh bless, another embarrassing trend' way. Our DDs can later hide them in the same box as our Frankie Says t-shirts, puffball skirts and winkle-pickers.
mosschops30 · 18/04/2007 22:09

Crocs - great (for work)
Boden - awful old ladies stuff
No difference but footless tights/leggings are only to be worn by those of less than 24 and certainly not by people who can remember them first time round (i.e. me)

SlightlyMadSecret · 18/04/2007 22:13
