Mourning the demise of my all time favourite jeans

They were (amazingly) from M&S, I think around 4 years ago. Lovely soft, stretchy denim, perfect fit, comfortable. They now have a big rip at the knee so really only suitable for wearing around the house.

They were the original M&S 5 pocket jegging, but the equivalent style in M&S now is just not the same. The denim is different (not as soft/stretchy) and they are not as long (I am tall). The label on my old ones says they are 28% polyester, 2% elastine with just 70% cotton, which I think must be why they were so comfy.

Any ideas where I can find something similar? Must be long in length and fit on the waist, soft and stretchy denim.

Please help!

Absolutely no help to you (I don't think) but I am very happy to find that the jeans that fit this apple shaped 5ft 4 ins person are Monsoon jeans. No idea of the style (not bootcut or high waisted) but they do not fall down/roll down to under my non-mum tum and nearly cut me in half like most do, so forgive me for crowing about them. They are stretchy enough and the material is soft !

Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I definitely won't discount the Sainsbury's ones, if I can track down my size in a shop. Thanks especially to TheMagnificentStanley for your v kind offer, but unfortunately I'm far from a size 8 (usually a 14 Blush).

I've ordered a couple of pairs of the Asos Ridley ones, mainly because Asos now has 20% off everything this week so it made them a really good buy. Let's just see if they actually fit (I'll report back!). If they're no good I'll probably try the TS Jamie ones.

Thanks again Flowers

Ankles of the Sainsbury's ones on me at 5ft 10!
Bizarrely if you're ever after leggings their long length ones were about an inch or two too long on me

Anatidae · 24/11/2017 08:34

I’ve tried most of these and none are high enough on the waist :/

White stuff jade jeggings were perfect. Now they’ve discontinued them (very annoying, there’s been a HUGE drop in their quality over the last year, very little is natural fibre now.)

WillowWeeping · 24/11/2017 09:08

I second laurie the next ones are brilliant.

thesunwillout · 26/11/2017 23:23

They have always had lots of them at M&S outlet store, I'm guessing they have been put there to die off.

No problem Fading. Sorry no good. Good luck with the hunt.

fadingfast · 28/11/2017 18:53

Just to report back, two pairs of Asos Ridley jeans arrived today (mid blue and a lovely slate grey). They were both nice and stretchy, fitted well around the waist and hips. Grey in particular are very soft and comfy.
But. They are too bloody short! Even with a 34 leg. To be fair, they are described as ankle-skimming and I suppose they were ankle length but I really wanted them to be full length Angry.
So plan B is to try the Topshop Jamies, and possibly the Sainsbury's ones if I can get hold of my size......

Molly in river Island are stretchy and comfy and come in loads of colours and styles.

HildaZelda · 28/11/2017 19:41

Have a look at River Island "Molly". True to size (I'm an 8) and I got the short leg at 5 3". Comes to my ankle, fine with flats/runners etc. For 'going out' ones I get "Amelia", size 8 again, but a regular leg to wear with heels.

I’m a topshop girl & would definitely recommend. We have a tall range (l36). No one would notice that you’re 44, don’t be silly. Topshop denim is extremely popular and a store best seller - everyone from all walks of life wear them!

IslingtonLou · 28/11/2017 20:16

Although having said that, most stores don’t stock a large tall range in store - you’ll be better off finding your waist size in store then ordering the styles you like in the tall range afterSmile

Cakescakescakes · 28/11/2017 21:09

Try the Top Shop Joni’s as well as the Jamie’s. They are higher waisted but are full length whereas the Jamie’s are often ankle grazers. Both are especially good if you are a bit of a pear in shape. Also both will give and stretch so buy them nice and snug. I’m a 12 and wear a 30 waist in both of that is helpful.

Cakescakescakes · 28/11/2017 21:10

THere is a blue black colour way in the Joni’s which is lovely in real life and can look really smart.

BinkyandBunty · 28/11/2017 22:02

I've converted to the Next 360 degrees after reading about them on here.

I'm 5'11 and the tall cut is long enough to be a little bunched around my ankles.
