Tretinoin in France - what do I ask for in les pharmacies?

Just that really. Going to Paris soon and want to buy some prescription-strength retinol/retinoid/vitamin A/whatever it's called.
I believe it can be bought over the counter in most European countries. How much is it in France, what do I ask for (don't want to be met with the gallic shrug of shoulders), what strength should I buy, and how much is it?
Also, any usage tips gratefully received. I'm hoping for it to be the miracle it seems to be. I have open pores, redness, rough texture, and am in mid-fifties.
Thanks all.
Thank you

I'm not sure what it's called in France, I stocked up in Spain, where it's called retrides, and it was about 10 euros. I've been using it for about a year, similar age to you, made a huge difference. I use every second day, and always use a sunscreen. I did two tubes at .025 and have just moved onto the .05. Never had any reaction. Use on dry skin, and let it drink in for at least 30 mins before moisturiser.

Sink, obviously.

I think it's prescription only in France, as it is in most places. You should have a consultation with a dermatologist before you start using it but I understand you can buy it via eBay.

  1. Leave at least 20 minutes between washing and applying.
  1. Depending on your skin type, start off using it a couple of times a week and work your way up.
  1. Don't start using it until you're found a really good sunscreen that you use everyday.

It's bloody fantastic.
