Steer me away from those tartan shirt dresses

Looking around the shops, I find myself drawn to them; they look so soft and warm and comfy. I could wear leggings underneath and never worry about my tummy ever again.

I will not! I love them! You can make them look better by wearing smart shoes and a necklace. They can look really nice Smile

BowlingShoes · 19/11/2017 14:51

I have a grey tartan one that I wear with leggings. It is indeed soft and comfy and looks good in my opinion!

IslingtonLou · 19/11/2017 14:52

You could also look into plain white/grey/denim options from Topshop etc which are a bit more versatile as you can dress the outfit up to not be as casual as a tartan print

hugoagogo · 19/11/2017 15:02

I'm pretty sure they would me no favours. I am five feet nothing, size 14/16 with chunky legs.

Mmmmm I'm interested, I hadn't seen these. Where is yours from Rolling? Any pics?

SparklingSnowfall · 19/11/2017 16:26

Ooh where have you found these things? Do you have a link? Not helpful!

hugoagogo · 19/11/2017 16:39

They are amazing though. Buy them all. Wear them with leggings to do the laundry and cleaning and then chuck on some pretend jeans when you need to nip to the shop. The long ones can be turned into chic dresses with a thin belt and thigh highs. Or if you’ve been invited to dinner get an actual pair of jeans and a pair of courts, done

And they hide marks and stains REALLY fucking well. Grin

TatianaLarina · 19/11/2017 16:54

No. I’ve got 3 from Jack Wills and they’re ace. Brushed cotton, really warm and comfy.

Don’t like the New Look one.

TatianaLarina · 19/11/2017 16:54

You could always wear them with boots if you’re concerned about your legs.

hugoagogo · 19/11/2017 17:27

I was expecting you to say. " step away from the shirt dresses; you will look like an oompa loompa!"

I want one now...

IHaveBrilloHair · 19/11/2017 18:49

Not my thing but I've seen worse, I can't imagine owning three of them though, don't you look a bit boring and samey.

Ttbb · 19/11/2017 18:56

That's so dated I didn't realise that it was still a thing!

Did that work? Just wear what you want to. Most people are so gideouskydressed these days that it won't matter.

Lucked · 19/11/2017 19:24

I do agree that leggings and baggy tops do you no favours when trying to loose weight, you can go up a size and not notice.

However I do like the idea of this for for lazy days. The jack wills ones are too expensive, I need a middle ground.

BusterGonad · 19/11/2017 20:07

I like them, please someone link a middle ground version!

TossDaily · 19/11/2017 20:11

I've got this one

BusterGonad · 19/11/2017 20:18

That is nice Toss but I'd like a more traditional one, brushed cotton and a bit longer than the New Look one! A few months back Oasis had a lovely one but it was made of viscose and I knew it would shrink!

Nettletheelf · 19/11/2017 20:40

Oooh shang a lang!

(For anybody old enough to remember the Bay City Rollers)

Lucked · 19/11/2017 20:46

this one is 100% cotton but sold out in my size.

PurpleDaisies · 19/11/2017 20:49

I love my fucshia pink and purple tartan shirt dress. No way I’d give it up.

BowlingShoes · 19/11/2017 20:51

I have one like this picture but in grey and black. It only buttons at the top but is nice, thick brushed cotton. I got it last year though. The closest sort of thing I could find now was this which isn't really a shirt dress at all but looks like it might be made from similar fabric.

I have an amazing one from primark, bought 2 sizes too big to wear with leggings at home. Do it.

hugoagogo · 19/11/2017 20:52

Yeah primark is full of them, and 100% cotton too.
Mmm comfy. Smile

Actually, that one I linked is 100% polyester. My one is poly-cotton mix but very cosy.
