What can I do to improve the appearance of my skin?

Having suffered with acne breakouts on and off since the age of 17, my skin seems to have finally settled down somewhat. I no longer get big spots just the odd little one, however my skin is damaged from previous breakouts. Is there much I can do about it? Will facials or treatments help? I have some redness and scarring, not severe but noticeable to me. I would love to feel confident without makeup!
Thanks in advance for advice Smile

Look at Azelaic Acid. I’m on an Fb group for the Ordinary and it’s helped a lot of people with scarring/texture and redness.

It’s only a fiver so worth a go. Most ppl use on the evening as it can make makeup pill at bit - although some ppl are fine with it AM as well!

If you have sensitive skin, patch test. It can tingle a bit but seems v effective.

You could also try their 2% Retinoid but you have to use sunscreen during the day if using this. You wouldn’t use every night. Start once a week on clean face, just moisturise/oil afterwards. No Azelaic on Retinoid nights.

I was also going to say try using “The Ordinary” products. They have absolutely improved my skin.

I use Dermablend foundation and it has really helped clear my skin up

Great advice so far, thank you. And only £5, what a bargain!

Go see a derm for retin a , or get some micro needling or lasering or fillers. If you are going to spend money, make sure it’s actually been proven to work, I see too many expensive creams with lots of fragrance and water and not much else

The Ordinary hasn't done much for me. I have started using La Roche Posay Cicaplast which gets rid of the scars. Any zits get zapped with Mario Badescu drying lotion. Just don't over-exfoliate. If you're going chemical, don't start adding face scrubs too!

Thanks for the recommendations Flowers
