I am going "Out" out.....

And I need a top!

Actually I am going "out" (friend's 40th at a bar) and then "out" (out with group of us at a Prosecco and Pizza night) and then DH is taking me "out" to a very nice restaurant.

So 3 events. Wardrobe options looking dull. I am a jeans and jumper person. Want to go a bit more glam. Please will you help me?

Am size 10 (proper size 10 not vanity 10) and fairly toned. Will consider skimming/fitted stuff as not feeling muffin-topped/love-handled at the moment. I do have wide shoulders and biggish boobs though so high necks look awful - look much better with a scoop/v-neck look. Also the big boxy stuff kicking around a few months back does nothing for me.

Colour wise I have blue eyes, pale pinky skin and grey sparkly curls (see here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/3083440-Ive-found-a-curly-hair-hairdresser

These days bright colours seem to suit me best - cerise, purple, red, Hush's "radiance" turquoise here

I look shit in anything with orangy/warm tones.

I cannot remember the last time I went out not wearing a jumper or t-shirt Blush.

I have jeans (black and blue) ditto cigarette pants and my gorgeous All Saints jacket to wear...just need something to cover my bra Grin.

Any suggestions please? (Budget - if is does me for all 3 I'd go to c£75 but I'd rather spend less.

Thank you S&B gurus!

Keep both.

CurlyPJ · 23/11/2017 23:40

I think i will. They bith make me feel great. Ill get loads of wear from the morning expensive Hush one and the Warehouse one fills a gap in my wardrobe...the not really smart/LBD occasion but one step up from a day dress.

Perfect.

I may report back in a year to let you all know how many more Hush dresses i own!😁

Curly you look freaking amazing in the hush dress and ankle boots!

shortaris1 · 24/11/2017 07:33

Love the Hush dress. Enjoy your date.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/11/2017 16:23

Love the Hush dress - it looks amazing on you. I think it needs opaques not bare/nude though, if you're going to wear the boots with it.

CurlyPJ · 24/11/2017 17:52

Remus taken your advice gladly tonight as it is fucking freezing out there and I have a walk between station and bar! Did slightly sparkly opaques though. I feel a million dollars. Thank you all.

Have a fantastic evening!

Friday night Hush dress was awesome. Perfect for hanging around with friends. Some of my friends were slightly more "glam" but it didn't matter as I felt brilliant.

Loved it so much I ordered the grey Tara dress in the Black Friday sale (so £49)....opps. That is one comes of slightly-pissed-on-the-train-home-on-phone-shopping.

Would never have tried them without the wonderful S&BB gurus opening my vision to what may/may not suit me.

Anyway, am going to wear the Warehouse one on date with DH this Friday. The Hush dress is quite relaxed up top which for a meal out may look a little like I haven't put in much effort. The Warehouse one is slightly more structured above waist/sleeves so perfect. It also looks great with the otk boots (which DH particularly likes Wink). The longer boots will also be a godsend for after our meal as knowing DH and I, we will wander around London for several hours afterwards so my legs will stay warmer! practicality may win on the coat stakes in London - puffy coat will will over any stylish choices

Thank you again.

What am I going to do without this thread?! It's entertained me for 10 days!Grin
So glad you reached your fashion goals OP, and was worth it those dresses look amazing on you.

Apileofballyhoo · 26/11/2017 14:13

Me too A1!

Apileofballyhoo · 26/11/2017 14:13

Thanks for updating, OP. Smile

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/11/2017 14:52

Hurray!

The Tara dress looks hideous on me (short and curvy) so I'm always jealous of those it suits. Just bought myself another of their ruched skirts though, which I rate highly. Grin

Final update. My big "Out Out" date with DH was last night. Pic attached. I felt great.

I packed the wrong tights (doh) - I had a pair of opaques which were actually DDs so far, far too small and had also last minute, chucked a pair of nude tights (or so I thought) into the case. Turns out they were knee-high thingies I didn't even know I owned!! So I ended up having to go bare-legged under the boots - but it was fine. No-one will have noticed (apart from me with 1 inch of chilly knees). And still felt brilliant.

Overall I prefer the Hush dress (I know also own a grey Tara one, opps) but it was too relaxed/t-shirt like for the occasion so I made the right call in keeping the Warehouse one - which I will be able to use again.

And we had a lovely time, amazing food and an amusing stay in the hotel when the Fire Alarm had a false alarm and then went off every 10 minutes from 5.50am until 8am. That was fun after two cocktails and half a bottle of Pinot Noir! Oh and whatever the issue was it also messed up the water supply - so no running water anywhere in the hotel. DH and I just accepted it as not quite the night away we planned and realised we would laugh about it by the end of the day.

So thank you. It was lovely to be out feeling I looked lovely. And my memories are of ChateauBriand and dodgy fire alarms not about wearing something a bit shit.
