Hi mumsnet, not sure I am allowed to ask this here but does anyone have any recommendations for adult invisalign providers in London? Has anyone had it and been happy / unhappy / had positive or negative overall facial shape changes?

Thanks in advance for any advice x

It shouldn’t get longer but maybe fill out a bit? Mine I felt filled out more (might have been the weight gain) my cheeks aren’t as sunken in now.

It was strange at first but like it now. I didn’t get it done so much for cosmetic reasons. The man in a bar saying I could eat an apple through a fence might have encouraged it though. I got it done because I was worried about the overcrowding forcing my bottom front tooth out and the fact I couldn’t even get floss between my teeth to clean them properly.

It was the best thing I ever did and wish I’d don’t it earlier. I never had spare cash to throw at braces though.

I can't seem to post pictures of my teeth now/before treatment (new to this - can't work it out!) but weirdly they look worse than I thought in the photo. Hmm

thegamblersmrs · 15/11/2017 20:38

There’s a paper clip underneath the text box.
I love looking at before and after pics. I spent hours reading people’s brace blogs and looking at their pics.

I might be sad but it fascinated me the tiny movements which all add up to a fab new smile.

Thanks so much for info @gamblers really helpful. Now i just need to find an orthodontist i like. Very dim question from me now sorry but what do you mean paperclip underneath text box? I can't see anything?

I’m on the app. The box I’m typing on has an emoji, a T and a paper clip underneath. You click the paper clip to upload a photo.

caramacgirl · 16/11/2017 20:14

Okay I am now using the app and I can now see the paper clip ( I was using the web version before) so I’ll have a go at posting my ‘pre treatment’ photo) I’ve only been going a week after all!

By the way all the discussion about extractions is interesting as I was told my teeth were too big for my jaw many years ago on starting my original orthodontic treatment (when I was about 14!) so I had 4 teeth out to make space. I presume that’s why no one has mentioned it again. If only they’d provided retainers in the early 80’s! Hmm

Keep a log of them moving, it’s so cool to look back and see all the subtle movements. Well I found it very interesting anyway!

Pandapenguin · 16/11/2017 21:05

Hmmm i've never had any extractions but they havent mentioned it to me so far the ones ive visited.

I think i will keep a blog about my braces will link it when i find orthodontist i like

Do you have a lot of space already in your mouth? If you’ve got a lot of over crowding would be getting a second opinion. I went from them saying no extractions to having 3 and I still have next to no room.

Pandapenguin · 16/11/2017 22:13

@thegamblers as stupid as this sounds im not sure tbh. From a dental point of view if that makes sense. I have some crowding but also some space at the back.

Hi the gamblersmrs I am also considering Invisalign and I wondered what you meant about it changing your face shape? Thanks

rhubarbcrumble66 · 16/11/2017 22:20

Oh sorry managed to miss page 2 have just seen what you meant

thegamblersmrs · 16/11/2017 23:24

Rhubarb, no one else notices it but I felt my face changed. It’s not major change.

rhubarbcrumble66 · 16/11/2017 23:32

I was just curious as I felt the same after having ceramic braces on my upper teeth only, but found it really hard to pinpoint how exactly. Obviously smile was different but I wasn't sure if I liked how my face looked overall. Now deciding between Invisalign and metal braces for my lower.

Pandapenguin · 17/11/2017 14:06

@rhubarb i know what you mean. I've looked at a lot of before / after photos and i can see most people look different but not in a way that i can articulate specifically - it's really strange! But 99% of people look better and younger also actually, afterwards. Imo anyway!
