Halternecks and braless boobs - can they work?

Just wondering really, I have a hankering for a hippyish halterneck top or dress with a low back but I have D cup boobs. Have got away with no bra in a drape-neck bias-cut strappy dress before but can a halterneck ever work with biggish boobs? Until I get a chance to visit a shop by myself and try things on (about 16yrs time probably) I'd really appreciate some anecdotal experiences, thanks.

Have you seen that Chaos at the Chateau programme?

Ooh, I guess that could go under a floaty one, layering style.

How about a fitted halterneck top rather than a floaty one, would it give you a comedy sized cleavage? Used to have one of those pre-kids and don't miss it really.

I went out with my sister last night and she wore a halterneck dress over jeans, and underthe dress, which was light brown with white polka dots, she wore a chocolate brown vest top, and she had her bra under that. It looked really nice, and she got the effect of the halter without the distraction of the boobfloppability IYSWIM.

Hope that helps
