Is like to look cosy and stylish instead of like a bag lady... what are your curvy must haves? Have you bought anything recently that you'd recommend? 👗

ilovecherries · 11/11/2017 21:37

My absolute must haves at the moment, Playmobil are: Hush Aimee Joggers in Navy and Charcoal with long vests and slightly oversized v neck jumpers; Hush Ivy dress; a ruched skirt (again with v neck jumpers); a longer floaty skirt with ankle boots (skirt from charity shop); uniqlo trouser leggings (best find ever); and a phase 8 batwing jumper and a cashmere boyfriend cardi. I have a couple of logo sweat tops and that constitutes my capsule wardrobe.

PlaymobilPirate · 11/11/2017 21:52

Just looked up the hush ivy dress cherries, does the oversize thing not just make you look bigger?

I would like to add the tunics from mudd and water: muddandwater.com/collections/tunics
They are made of cotton and can be found (at around 16.99) in TKMaxx.
They are very forgiving with the tummy. I am 14/16 and short (5'1) and size 14 fits great.

ilovecherries · 11/11/2017 23:11

I delude myself that it doesn't :). I wear a medium in it, and I think it's just fine on me, but I'm 5'7, might be a bit more tent like on a smaller person. And given I'm losing weight still, I need something that will be forgiving through a couple of sizes.

ilovecherries · 11/11/2017 23:14

Although, yes, there is certainly something about perspective here. 6 months ago I was wearing a 22. Now I'm wearing a 14, occasionally a 12. Clearly I'm not slim yet, but to me, my clothes look very small now.

SellFridges · 11/11/2017 23:20

I am wearing lots of short skirts - I’ve bought a suede one recently and a fake leather one too. Then long sleeved jersey tops. Very thin jumpers, often with a lace detail.

I find I wear more skirts in winter than summer.

MightyMunki · 12/11/2017 06:20

Has anyone tried the uniqlo winter velvet jeggings? They caught my attention in the Swears By thread. I'm very temped as they come in some really lovely autumnal colours, just worried how they'd look on my size 14 bottom half...most of the nice colours are sold out on the website, may go shopping on Tues to try some on, will report back.

Current favourite top is a black polo neck jumper from Jaegar. Beautiful fit, so flattering as it nips in at the hips and bust but loosens a bit around the tummy, material is bobbling a bit though which is disappointing Sad.

PostNotInHaste · 12/11/2017 07:50

I've just bought some new clothes as have lost a lot of weight so had nothing to wear. I've more to go so have been trying to keep cost as low as possible. I'm a busty apple, 16 top, 14 bottom.

Dorothy Perkins midi wrap dress mine's Green as suits my colouring and was cheaper than this in Debenhams.

oriental print wrap top have the 16 and it is huge but even 18 year old DD thinks it's nice so smaller size coming.

Feather print blouse Also a ribbed zip front cardigan in black which is lovely but can't see on line.

Chunky edge to edge cardigan

Plain tops Got several of these.

Black jegging type things

Got a jacket in Everything5pounds which is sold out now but got compliments on night out last week, worth keeping an eye for the odd bit there.

None of it is good quality and more polyester than I would like but I had to have clothes, didn't want to spend a fortune so these are the compromises. I like Uniqlo tops but by the time I got round to it they had sold out the things I wanted.

JustTheWayYouAre · 12/11/2017 08:41

I have a couple of these very tummy skimming!

PlaymobilPirate · 12/11/2017 09:35

Wow - well done Haste I'll search through those links whilst ds is at his swimming lesson!

Just that link doesn't work - and I was sooo excited by 'tummy skimming'

Somewhere between 16 & 14 at the moment having lost some weight (like ilovecherries, but not nearly as impressive) - so needing to buy some clothes but not wanting to buy too much because I hope to lose more. Currently re-discovering a-line skirts, as they seem quite flattering - I've got a denim one from Toast sale which comes to mid-calf, worn with cardigan on top and bikery boots from Fly London underneath. Am looking out for others!

JustTheWayYouAre · 12/11/2017 11:49

That's odd Play I just clicked on it and it worked for me - try googling Tara curved hem Jumper Joules.

The words tummy skimming sets my heart a flutter too!

PlaymobilPirate · 12/11/2017 13:29

Doh - works for me now! Only smaller sizes though. I've saved the link 😁

JustTheWayYouAre · 12/11/2017 14:01

Okay, sorry didn't check the sizes. The grey and pink have more sizes - I also have a purple one which is sold out so must be popular.

PlaymobilPirate · 15/11/2017 19:56

Has anyone bought anything lovely this week??

OP posts:
EachandEveryone · 16/11/2017 11:44

I feel crap I’m so big. I bought a thick dress from h and m basics which is flattering with good tights. And an ink blue blouse from there. They have some nice bits in. I bought a blue velvet blazer from Dotty P’s I sized up my boobs won’t stop growing! I’m waiting for it to be delivered. Nyc next week I’m desperately looking for some kind of coat/jacket

I tried many fitted coats on yesterday and they all had funny button situations going on. I ended up getting a furry collarless zip up coat from Uniqlo and it looks great on. It will be useless in the rain, mind. I bought a black sparkly cowl necked dress from Dorothy Perkins which was also flattering even though it’s clingy and a nice big blanket scarf from H & M. Since turning 50 my boobs have got massively out of control.

Madonnasmum · 18/11/2017 14:55

I've ordered the Ivy dress (thanks cherries) and am 5 3. Planing to wear with black tights and ankle boots.

mumoffour1716154 · 18/11/2017 19:20

Size 14 and bought a gorgeous Boden teal blue wool coat knee length. within same week found a 3/4 thigh length jacket flared at armpits, with raglan sleeves, then yesterday a heavy wool BHS coat all totalling £20. That’s my winter cold weather needs sorted SmileSmile

PlaymobilPirate · 19/11/2017 20:14

Wow! Good haul mumof

Has anyone bought anything in the Black Friday sales?

OP posts:
Cocolepew · 24/11/2017 19:31

Atm Im mostly wearing a H&M denim mini and a black coated denim skirt from Matalan, it looks a bit like leather but not plasticky.
I usually wear a black cotton jumper or a grey sweatshirt.
I've decided I like wolly tights better than opagues and wear Fly Myso boots.
I've never thought to put a jumper over a dress either Confused.
I have a tencel denim shirt dress from Asda and I wear a breton top under it with the sleeves rolled up.

Cocolepew · 24/11/2017 19:37

I bought Mint Velvet ruched leggings and am constantly having to hoik them up, like literally every 50m or so when walking. So annoying. I've bought their leggings for years and they never used to be this bad.

I've just got some Baukjen high waisted ones after seeing them recommended on here and I can see my pants through them but they do at least stay up and I wear long sweaters/tops so I can live with it.
