I bought a Balenciaga bag that's 9 years old. It's still in pretty good shape, with just some fading on the leather and rubbing in the corners and frayed edges. I bought it for around £225. Had it authenticated and it's authentic.

But...it has this vintage smell. Like it came from a chest or something. I have tried airing it out in the sun, but there's still this smell (although a lot less now). I read about baking soda, and I'm thinking of trying it but worried it will spill inside the bag and I won't be able to return it to the seller if it does that.

Will you return it?

Can you return a bag after 9 years?

Probably not.

However, this bag is a recent buy. The bag was manufactured 9 years ago - hence, 9 years old.

Told the eBay seller that eBay told me that the shipping should be shouldered by the seller.

She sent me this message:

“So you are not going to pay for the shipping???”

Haven’t you posted loads of threads recently about buying second hand designer bags? Is this the one you picked? Think you are wise to return it!

Distressed?! More like utterly distraught!!

I think you need to hold out for the postage, eBay would be on your "side", I think the buyer was just chancing it. I know its not nice to argue with people on eBay but just keep saying "this is what eBay recommended" etc

£225 on a frayed, faded bag!

Hellohellorain · 10/11/2017 23:05

That bag has definitely had its day Grin

I’m sure if you contact eBay they send you a prepaid postage stamp

ReallyConvolutedCareerHistory · 10/11/2017 23:32

The seller is overseas that's why the postage will be so much.
