Oh that's lovely! Good choice!

There's an arts and crafts section that I usually put knitting questions in, but sure there's no thread police on here if you want to keep using this thread since a lot of knitters have assembled Wink

Terrylene · 13/11/2017 14:38

Yes, that is lovely and more modern. I swing between the ultra modern stuff and very traditional stuff. If only I could knit faster Hmm

This thread is very inclusive - it has the ones to knit and the ones to buy or to drool over Wink

Ambleside48 · 13/11/2017 14:45

Yes I liked that it’s s bit more modern! I’ve chosen a darker grey for the main body of the jumper so hoping that will work with the yoke colours. Will upload to here then! Watch this space! Would love to see others’ WIP photos too if anyone has any!

@Fashionjunkie Did you buy the Mistrall jumper? What's the sizing like?

SeaRabbit · 04/12/2017 16:58

I recommend the Fruity Knitting podcast for anyone interested in Fair Isle knitting. It's presented by a lovely couple - she is very experienced and inventive.

Yes quilliamcakespeare - got the yellow one, pretty true to size tbh, Mistral comes up slightly bigger if anything in my experience... it’s SO cute!

AgentProvocateur · 04/12/2017 22:02

Can I butt in to ask you fairisle experts a question? I have a gorgeous Ines de la Fressange one that I got from Uniqlo last year. It has melted chocolate on it (never eat a Magnum while reclining!) but the washing instructions say dry clean only.

Would you risk a cold machine wash? And if it’s cold, will the chocolate come out?

Many thanks.

QuilliamCakespeare · 05/12/2017 14:54

Thanks @Fashionjunkie I've been eyeing up the yellow one for ages.. think I'll go for it before jumper season is over!

Ambleside48 · 05/12/2017 21:20

Sorry Agent I'm not sure on that one...I'd give it a try on cold wash.

I've just finished my DD's cardigan! Just need to add buttons. Hopefully a pic will appear below...

It's come out a weird turtle neck shape but hoping it will look ok on. So now I can get started on my own jumper!

Hope everyone else's projects are going well Grin

How's everyone's projects going?!

I have done the body and 1 1/2 sleeves of the jumper, getting there slowly but surely!

I found a great place to buy wool too if anyone's interested - wool warehouse

Would love to hear about everyone's projects!

I love Wool Warehouse and the lovely gauze bags they send the yarn. I'm knitting Aran hoodies and jackets for DGSs and nephews/nieces at the moment - three down and two to go! I also started a chunky yarn cardigan for myself (I don't remember the last time I knitted something for me)

Ambleside48 · 14/01/2018 20:42

To anyone who's interested - I finished the jumper! Hopefully pic below... it didn't take too long in the end and was a fairly easy knit, definitely recommend the pattern! I've yet to try it on so hoping it fits, this is it in the blocking stage. Thanks for all your help and encouragement on this thread! Over and out!

Wow that is just brilliant, well done. I've knitted half a sleeve in the time you've done that!

Acopyofacopy · 14/01/2018 20:51

Oh my, that is beautiful!

I would love a fairisle jumper, but I can’t wear wool because of crazy sensitive skin. If anybody comes across a non-hideous polyester or, even better, cotton version I would be very greatful!

Ambleside48 · 14/01/2018 21:01

Thanks! I had fun knitting it!!

Will keep an eye out for cotton versions...

Haha notme, I had a bit of time off over Christmas so powered through it then! Will prob stick to toddler clothes from now on though, so much quicker!!
