Recommend me your best hair curling gadget for thick hair!

I've got long, thick hair and lots of it. It's naturally wavy and holds a curl pretty well but I just cannot get the knack of curling with my straighteners and haven't got the time for rollers.

I'm rubbish at this kind of thing and would really love some tips and product recommendations so I can tell dh what to get me for our anniversary

I have insane amounts of thick boob length hair and I use MiraCurl by BabyLiss. I have tried all sorts of curling wands, irons, rollers and have failed miserably at all of them until I found this. Every time I use it I still yet at my husband “Hair goes in, curl comes out! ITS MAGIC!!!” and get eye rolls. It used to take me 20-30 min at the beginning but now I can do it without sectionjng my hair in 10 min and get the same results. My hair has never gotten stuck in it which seems to be a common worry for a lot of people. I use the lowest heat and time settings (8 secs) and my curls last ages till I wash my hair (4-5 days if I let it). Im sorry this reads like marketing, Im just crazy happy with it and I know the pain of thick of unruly hair so I sincerely hope you find a good solution that works for you!

I use the Lee Stafford Chopstick but it does give quite small ringlets that you then shake out to separate. Great for volume.

I use the Lee Stafford one too. I tie my hair into a really high pony tail and curl the ponytail bit by bit then take it down and curl whichever bits are still not curled. I find it much quicker that way.

Is the Mira Curl the same as the Curl Secret? I really like the look of the Curl Secret and they're on offer just now!

I think the sheer quantity of hair on my head would make the Lee Stafford chop sticks a bit time consuming.

It looks the same but Im not sure if it has any difference. I bought it ages ago and at the time there were only 2 versions on the market. I got the “pro” version which had the addition of an extra long swiveling power cord and the ability to set hair to be curled in 3 directions (left, right ad alternating)

There appears to be quite a few different versions now so Id make sure I research it properly, and perhaphs try it in a salon or buy it from somewhere you can easily return it if you don’t like it?

One thing to note is that I found the curl direction very important. When I use alternating it gives me very modern, a bit messy curls. Pretty much what most people think of these days when they get curls. When I do only right and brush them out after a day or two my hair has a very noticable “S” shape, the way starlets from 50s had for example. I much prefer this and its a very different look so make sure you get this feature if you want it.
