If you have dark hair with foil highlights, how do you deal with regrow that between appointments?

I'm a natural brunette but have been getting foil highlights for several months now. I'm trying to go 8 weeks between appointments but the regrowth irritates me after a month. Is there anything I can do to make it look less awful? I already mess up my parting so it isn't an clear straight line of dark roots but my silly hair always seems to fall back into a straight parting.

Add some low lights in a light warm brown to break it up a little?

Would I do that in between high lights or at the same time?

Talk to your colourist and say you want to be able to leave it as long as possible between appts.

My hairdresser suggested to me only highlighting the hair underneath and she backcombed the lengths first before putting the dye on the foil so it was more haphazard
My roots are overdue but I've just been using some of that coloured hair spray on.
It's really extended the time between appointments and I'm just going to do my roots at home
