What to wear with pleated skirt for posh do?

I need an outfit for a couple of evening dos. Both quite dressy - borderline black tie, but cocktail dresses rather than full-on evening dresses. I quite fancy wearing a metallic pleated skirt, probably in some sort of green. Could I dress this up sufficiently, do you think, and what could I wear on top that would work?

A black or cream silk camisole type top would look good, as would a bustier type top. Then you can layer a blazer over the top or a pashmina shawl if that's more your sort of thing.

I think pleated skirts look lovely with slim fitting, turtle neck's. But probably more of a day - to - day look rather than cocktail?
How about the (oft hated on MN) Bardot top?
