is this a fake Vivienne Westwood bag?

It won't be to everyone's taste, but I really like it - I'm awful at spotting fakes though and I've been had on eBay before. It's listed as auction with a starting price of £20. Any thoughts?

No idea from the pics but those style bags are tiny and iirc weren't very pricey first time round so a start price of £20 wouldn't be unreasonable.

I bought my friend a VW bag recently and the dust bag had VW written on it. I'm pretty certain it was clear inside (labels etc) that it was VW. I can't see this one clearly enough. Does she have proof it's VW?

I've just seen it on eBay. It looks real to me.

The dust bag certainly isn't what you get with a Vivienne Westwood bag, but I suppose that doesn't necessarily mean the actual handbag is fake.

If you like it and can get it for £20, then go for it. If it's like the ones I've seen before in that sort of style, it's not really bag size - just a tiny purse size.

Looks like two different dust bags? One is definitely not the right kind.

Will you use it in that condition? All the red's worn off. I think it's awful!

I've had a look - it would appear to be the Monaco 3655 evening bag, which was made in red, but not distressed like that. (That I can find, anyway).
So, is it fake, or is it genuine, having had a very hard life?

I'd say it has a lot of signs of wear and tear. Can you enlarge the picture on your phone? It probably is a VW but looks in a terrible state to me.

I don't think it was supposed to be just plain red. I think the 'distressing' is supposed to be gold, and is deliberate. Not a fan personally though.

The strap is tan on the eBay bag -not red and the plate inside is leather not metal. I'm thinking fake, thanks for your help.

Actually you're right about the strap, they've definitely attached a new tan strap to it and I think it's supposed to have a longer gold chain strap as well to wear over your shoulder.?

VW is my fave designer to buy. I’ve got a number of bits and I’m afraid i think it’s fake. But if you like it, it doesn’t matter

The more I'm looking at the "distressed" gold, the more I'm thinking the original colour has rubbed off- added to the fact I can't find any trace of any distressed new VW bags. Ah well, never mind.

Just had a reply back from the seller, apparently the gold pattern is deliberate and the bag is a vintage item with no receipt 🤔

It’s a moncano 3655 evening bag from spring/Summer 2015. Doubt that makes it vintage

Maybe ask on the purseblog forum, there are people on there who are great at verifying fakes
