If your OH is stylish / dresses well where does he shop?

DH’s clothes have gone seriously down hill! He is a trim, 6ft nice looking man (IMO obvs) but I think he is...

When we met he was relatively bothered about his clothes. Of late he’s decided not to bother much, I actually don’t mind this too much in that neither of us are that concerned with ‘physical appearance’ and I wouldn’t like him to be super vain however it’s now got to the point he has very little to wear...

What he does have been has bought (often with my help) from brands like Zara, Vans, Farah. That’s it really. He has so few clothes. I feel (and he does) that he needs to up his game and look like he makes an effort. In the past it was all H&M and Topman but he says he feels he’s a bit old for that (he’s 36) and he would like maybe to spend a little more on some decent stuff that will last longer than a few weeks.

Can anyone advise where the heck I point him in the direction of? His ‘style’ is sort of laid back, creative type, so I’m thinking jeans, t shirts, nice sweaters / hoodies and maybe the odd shirt. A lot of men I work with shop at the likes of Jack Wills, Hackett etc but that’s not really his scene. He wouldn’t like the ‘preppy’ look he says.

Help!

Ps he dresses casually for work so work / weekend wardrobe can be the same.

He has several very nice Reiss suits that have been bought for weddings etc so doesn’t anything formal like that’s it’s more the day to day stuff. He doesn’t want to spend a fortune but would like a ‘capsule’ (my word not his!) wardrobe for £5-700.

Following as my DH is very similar

SweetChickadee · 29/09/2017 17:16

Banana Republic

WellTidy · 29/09/2017 17:21

I like the things in Massimo Dutti for men. Not to DH's liking as it is too smart for his everyday stuff and he doesn't care enough to put that much effort in. But I like their stuff when I see it. I also like Jaeger for knitwear for men. Linea in house of Fraser looks good too.

3wayburger · 29/09/2017 17:23

Dp shops at, paul smith, boss, diesel,
He pretty much gets everything from these shops

Argeles · 29/09/2017 17:24

My DH shops in House of Fraser, and buys mainly from: Ted Baker, Ralph Lauren, Paul Smith and Armani. He mixes these clothes up with Nike sportswear.

He dresses very well, but I think he spends far too much on clothes, and could dress just as well for less.

AyeAyeFishyPie · 29/09/2017 17:30

Charles Tyrwhitt mainly. He looks great

badg3r · 29/09/2017 18:43

Uniqlo mainly. He has one of those figures that clothes just hang well on. Lucky bugger Wink the men's stuff there is really nice quality for the price, their jumpers are very nice. Only problem is there are very few physical shops in the U.K.

Ttbb · 29/09/2017 18:45

My husband looks his best in ted baker and Ralph Lauren (he's tall and athletic figure). My BIL (also tall and athletic) looks very nice in Joules.

thecatfromjapan · 29/09/2017 18:47

My dh is far from stylish. For an interview the other day (vaguely in publishing/sales area),* I sent him to Massimo Dutti.

*Info included because 'stylish' means something different in different areas/to different people.

TheLegendOfBeans · 29/09/2017 18:50

DH wears Ted Baker, Vivienne Westwood, has a few gorgeous suits possibly Ralph Lauren

DH shops in TK Maxx. Nowhere else.

I'm always jealous, our local ones are shit for women's wear.

Sunnie1984 · 29/09/2017 18:59

All saints is good for smartish looking casual wear.

Their t-shirts fit well as do their jumpers.

GinIsIn · 29/09/2017 19:10

DH's clothes are mostly from H&M, asos, uniqlo and gap.

Queenofthedrivensnow · 29/09/2017 19:11

I bought exp clothes from surf brands like billabong and from all saints

BoysRule · 29/09/2017 19:23

DH is very concerned with clothes and likes looking smart and fashionable (for his age!) He works in media in London. He buys most of his clothes online from Thread - you get a personal shopper bit you don't have to use them, you can just use it like an ordinary online shop.

Pistachiois50pmore · 29/09/2017 19:28

Uniqlo for basics. Peter Werth is good for classic straight cut trousers, raincoats, jackets etc. Folk and Sunspel if you want to spend a bit more. A lot of people like J Crew. APC for a notch up from that.

Mr Porter website is good for high-end stuff, and has quite good fashion articles for inspiration.

And all the posh brands are worth a look in the sales!

DragonNoodleCake · 29/09/2017 19:31

Mantaray or Fat Face for nice but casual for shirts and always Gap jeans (but that's because they fit and are comfy so he sticks with them - they don't seem 'smart' enough for me

Pangur2 · 29/09/2017 19:33

My husband wears shirts from All Saints, often open over plain t shirts from Asos. He also wears DM boots.

PNGirl · 29/09/2017 19:46

Mine's 32 and in a creative industry so also dresses casually for work. He's normally found in a pair of jeans from Diesel/Levi's/Tommy Hilfiger or a pair of casual Ted Baker trousers, a t shirt or shirt (vary but can be Uniqlo/Saltrock/Jack&Jones/band tee, shirts or polos usually Ted Baker), shoes from Dune/Converse/Dr Martens/Nike, and his grey leather jacket or a casual type jacket. A bit like this.

A lot of his stuff is from TK Maxx in a fairly affluent city as it's a good branch.

PNGirl · 29/09/2017 19:47

Oh, actually he has a casual blazer and a warm coat, both from AllSaints. He has the reverse of this (tweed outer, suede inner) from last year.

RJnomore1 · 29/09/2017 19:50

Dh has a specific look and shops at stone island, lacoste(only for polos) Ralph Lauren Hugo boss casual connoisseur abdxhis oersonal favourite a small English brand called trickett.

(I shop in asdas 😂)

Sparkletastic · 29/09/2017 20:02

Pretty Green
Fred Perry
French Connection
Edwin jeans
Paul Smith and All Saints shirts and v neck jumpers

He’s 6ft 2, mid 40s, in good shape and he dresses well.

RJnomore1 · 29/09/2017 20:05

Dh has Edwin jeans too forgot about them.

hungrytillater · 29/09/2017 20:08

I think my dh dresses really well, but most of his clothes are supermarket/primark with the odd more expensive thing thrown in. Basically chinos or smart jeans, cotton shirt, blazer.

flamingnoravera · 29/09/2017 20:09

Charity shops, cos, more charity shops. But he does the rounds daily. So gets the pick of the best. (He's an antiques dealer hence daily rounds of chazzers).
