PIckAChew - I'm a relative newcomer to the delights of hot flushes, so I hadn't realized the solution was to cut the sleeves off my coats .

It's similar to that thing where you poke an arm or leg out of the bed when you're too warm, then wake up 2 hours later and pull it back in again, when you realise you're shivering.
