Inspired by all of the other holiday threads!

Off to Toronto next week and would appreciate your views on what might be good to buy from there? Both style and beauty please!

Also is it worth buying CanadaGoose from there? Am struggling to find Canadian prices on line

Many thanks Grin

Yes, CG is significantly cheaper than in the U.K., for example a Kensington is RRP 895 CAD which is about £540.

Don't know what your style is but I think Club Monaco is actually Canadian. I'd probably spend my budget there :P

Lululemon yoga gear, also check out Lole, the Montreal brand too. Mac cosmetics, ski gear and outdoor stuff generally from MEC or Sail are great. We also have the American brands there is a North Face outlet on the way to Niagara if you are heading that way. Anthropologie, Abercrombie, Banana Republic, Old Navy and J crew. We also have some great Sephoras which I don't think are in the UK?

oh, if you are looking for a winter coat, also check out Quartz co, much more waterproof than CG, and therefore probably better for UK weather. CG are great in dry cold but any kind of wet and you are soaked!

oldlaundbooth · 18/09/2017 18:31

Are you looking for anything specific, OP?

You need to check out Davids Tea as well, they sell all different sorts of teas. Even if you don't like tea, you'll like theirs!

Oh yeah canada goose! And get some gorgeous bath and body stuff plus candles from bath and body works. American eagle is great for casual bits too

Sign up for newsletters/coupons before you go.

The Eaton Centre has many of the big brands under one roof. And the food court is fun - loads of choices.

Hit Queen Street West and Queen West West. Personally I think Eddie Bauer is far superior in winter coats than Canada Goose and the prices are far more reasonable, with lifetime warranty and great selection. John Fluevog for funky shoes, the distillery district for a great wander around a beautiful area, St. Lawrence Market to experience the great flavours on offer (Busters Seacove is great for lunch and Luna's has the BEST coffee in Toronto at the best prices). Holy Renfrew for some Canadian Luxury retail (also own Selfridges). A walking tour with Muddy York tours to discover and learn about different areas of Toronto, Casa Loma...I know more touristy than shopping. Remember 13% tax added at the till on all goods. Enjoy your stay and this beautiful city!

Roots, Hudsons bay have iconic Canadian stuff. The bay usually has lovely Olympics mittens/gloves for the winter.

lizzieoak · 19/09/2017 03:36

Club Monaco stuff is so gorgeous and well made. Sometimes their sales are good. Sizes are fairly tiny. I'm a small in the Gap but medium in Club Monaco.

I'd second the mittens from the Bay. Very cosy and iconic. Roots is so pricey - I covet their handbags. Out west we have Mountain Equipment Coop (MEC). Maybe they aren't in TO though? They're good for sensible winter parkas.

Speaking of parkas, depending on your taste, you could check vintage shops for gorgeous old parkas. Ditto plaid wooly jackets from the 50's - but those are maybe niche tastes.
