I have just had a good sort out and thrown away anything which is manky. Still have nearly 80 bottles not including top or base coat Confused

And yet I only have three pairs of shoes!

I can't believe how many some people have! How do you store them all?! I have about 15 different colours (but I only ever actually use the black...)

Spam88 · 15/09/2017 16:38

I have a Helmer from IKEA. It's as if it was designed for them lol, the drawers are the perfect height.

Opheliasgoldenwine · 15/09/2017 17:00

One red one Blush

DaisyRenton18 · 15/09/2017 17:02

Far, far too much. I calculated once (after Googling "how many coats in a bottle of nail varnish?") that my nail varnishes should last me until I'm about 84. Bloody Nails Inc and their ridiculous lucky dips and 8 for £18 or whatever it used to be. The ridiculous thing is that these are all traditional nail varnishes, and I absolutely love Shellac. So really, I should just bin the lot... but then I think of the ££££ I've spent on them...

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 15/09/2017 17:46

Hahahahahaha wayyyyy to many. 163 at last count. To be fair, I must clear them out as a few have gone gloopy etc.

miffy2 · 15/09/2017 17:48

More than the average nail salon I reckon. It's my hobby, I do my nails most nights. I now buy mostly indie polishes and see it as a collection as much as anything else.

I've bought, sold, swapped and RAOK'd polish over the last decade and actually made some really good friends in the process, many of whom are now polish makers themselves.

PollyPerky · 15/09/2017 17:52

80! Bloody Nora.

About 4. Two deep red for toes and 2 nudes for hands.

I cannot understand anyone having more than maybe ...10? Where do you keep them is my first question!?

ToothTrauma · 15/09/2017 18:23

I keep them in the bottom drawer of one of those hanging things from IKEA Blush Not fancy at all! I have seen an app recently where you can have them all categorised on your phone. I'm considering it.

I'm jealous of the people who have millions and also weirdly jealous of the people who have only a few Grin

Miffy I've bought almost exclusively indie polishes for the last year or so. I love the chrome powders too - the holo ones are my favourite.

I have 2 shoe boxes full. I'm not sure how many that is. The majority are about 3/4 years old as I was painting my nails a lot and buying new colours all the time. It was hobby for me, which helped me lose weight - I bought polish as little treats and I and had something to do with my hands in the evenings to keep them out the fridge....

CantChoose · 15/09/2017 21:38

I have about 80 :/
And recently got rid of about 40. I don't buy them often now, only really if I get one in a beauty box or magazine. So I might use them up before I die!

TheGreaterGoodTheGreaterGood · 15/09/2017 21:54

I have about 70, and recently got rid of a similar number. I only kept the brands I liked. About 75% of them are bright pink or deep red - but I swear they're all different!

They are stored in clear plastic tiered shelf things from Amazon - like brands together and in colour order within brands. Makes me happy Smile

NC4now · 15/09/2017 22:00

Just counted. 24, which is ridiculous considering I get acrylics done at a salon. I do my own toes (occasionally).

Redtartanshoes · 15/09/2017 22:33

100 ish.

I love the way you can spend £4 on a nail varnish and it brings me such joy. A lovely wee treat

Loving Barry M at the moment

TheDowagerCuntess · 15/09/2017 22:36

I had a massive purge recently, as a lot of them actually don't suit me colour-wise.

Now have about 5-10, and they're all colours I regularly wear.

Agree that they are a nice, easy treat though.

nickdrakeslovechild · 15/09/2017 22:39

well over a hundred! I wanted to do a blog an never got round to it. I was really fat for a while and my nails was my go to fashion buy as nothing else fitted!

KimchiLaLa · 15/09/2017 23:08

Probably around 30. And I only use 5. They are all nude, red or pinkish tones. I really am that boring.

Ollivander84 · 15/09/2017 23:27

Don't look at the rainbow connection website, bad, bad things
https://rainbow-connection.co.uk

BlooBagoo · 16/09/2017 00:52

Maybe around 10 colours plus various base and top coats. I'm more likely to go get gel nails done tbh as I'm hard on my nails so doing it myself never seems to last more than an hour and I spend longer than that putting it on normally!

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 16/09/2017 01:07

I buy a new Essie colour whenever I see them on special offer so am approaching 20ish. Although I only paint my nails about 4 times a year!

foofooyeah · 16/09/2017 01:41

None. Just have gelish done at a nail bar ..... or SNS occasionally but find that damages my nails a bit ... although it lasts longer than gelish.

purplemanholecover · 16/09/2017 01:43

I have around 180 normal polishes (that I don't use anymore but strangely can't part with, considering I'm not sentimental at all! 🤔) and almost 60 shellac polishes... I do nails as a hobby just now (used to do them as a job on the side, but no time now!)

Reppin · 16/09/2017 01:46

Nail polish doesn't last long enough to warrant having so many! They are like bras... need replacing every six months or so. I have around 10, and store them in the fridge.

choppolata · 16/09/2017 05:54

Over 100 and some are 20+ years old! Probably time for a clear out, I rarely wear it these days as I hate it being less than perfect, and never seem to get more than a day of that.

miffy2 · 16/09/2017 11:18

Nail polish lasts forever! I have some really old ones. They can be brought back from a sticky gloopy mess with a few drops of nail thinner (not polish remover which indeed breaks down the polish formula and will destroy it).
The only ones I have had to toss are thermals which lose their colour changing ability after 6 months or so, and some really heavy glitters that could not be saved without a lot of work and thinner.

CointreauVersial · 16/09/2017 14:40

At least 60 bottles, stored in a giant tin. Ironically I don't actually wear it that often because my nails are rubbish.

That's the peril of having a DH in the cosmetics business.
