What brand of makeup do you wear?

I've ran out of my MAC foundation and my Lancôme mascara and Max Factor primer and it got me thinking, maybe I should try some new products. I was wondering what the wise MN gurus would recommend (any product) and what products do they wear?Smile

If you aren't white then try Makeupforever from Debenhams. It's the only cosmetic I have ever used that doesn't oxidise.

GaryBarlowsTaxReturn · 15/09/2017 09:18

Best mascara IMHO is Clinique flutter to full. It's a tubing mascara so stays looking perfect all day.

Foundation - I have recently been trying out Beauty Pie and I love their oily skin foundation.

Primer - can't beat Laura Mercier. I mix it with a blob of Dior glow maximizer if I am going out.

Opheliasgoldenwine · 15/09/2017 09:22

@Nuttynoo what do you mean? Personally, I'm pale as a ghost?

Opheliasgoldenwine · 15/09/2017 09:23

@GaryBarlowsTaxReturn I've never understood; what's the difference between the tubing mascara and a non tuning mascara? They're all in a tube Confused

Thanks so much for the suggestions though!Grin

ParanoidBeryl · 15/09/2017 09:29

Trish McEvoy. Her best products, IMO are:

Amazing mascara (if by 'tubing' it means coating the lashes with little gel tubes, this does the same).

Eyelid primer

Lovely makeup cases

Lip conditioner (dewy, full, natural looking lips)

All of her make up brushes

I could go on ... Grin

The only thing is that there are limited places that sell it. Selfridges, Harvey Nicholls and Liberty are the only ones I know of.

Nuttynoo · 15/09/2017 09:29

For some reason foundation in darker shades oxidize or turn darker (ie yellower or orange, like a rust) even for expensive brands like Bobby Brown. Nadiya Hussain is a good example as she is no where near as dark in RL as she appears on screen. Makeupforever doesn't do that.

crazypenguinlady · 15/09/2017 09:31

I wear a mixture of Urban Decay, No 7 and 17.

No 7 BB cream, mascara, and powder
17 concealer, eyeliner, lip liner
UD eye palette, bronzer and blusher
Mixture of above for lipsticks

SummerRoberts · 15/09/2017 09:31

Most days I use:
Double Wear foundation by Estée Lauder in shell
Lasting perfection concealer by Collection in light
Studio Fix powder by MAC in NC15
A sleek blush that's a good dupe for Nars Orgasm
A sleek contour palette if I'm in the mood/wake up early enough
A NYX highlight
Maybelline waterproof liquid liner
Maybelline lash sensational mascara- better than any expensive one I've tried except maybe Diorshow
Either MAC lipstick in Lady Danger or Estée Lauder pure colour envy in 410 at the moment but they change with my mood
I have a couple of Urban Decay naked palettes for nights out or if I fancy doing eyeshadow.

TishHope · 15/09/2017 09:49

I've been revising my makeup lately to reflect the fact that I'm older and my needs have changed. I'm now wearing chanel perfection luminiere velvet foundation and benefit dandelion blusher, whereas I used to use a much darker blusher and a cheaper foundation. I've just bought charlotte tilbury matte lipstick in pillow talk and some wet n wild matte lipsticks too. Still looking for a really nice mascara.

TishHope · 15/09/2017 09:50

too faced eyelid primer is by far the best i've found for older ladies

Winelover93 · 15/09/2017 09:53

Mac prep and prime
Then ester lauder double wear foundation
La girl pro concealer
Laura Mercia translucent powder
Sleek contour palette

Orangebird69 · 15/09/2017 09:56

ophelia, tubing mascara literally creates a tune around your lash. It's brilliant and really easy to remove - although it does look as though your lashes have fallen out (they haven't though!). I buy the L'Oreal one.

Other than that, I like MUAs shadow palettes and pinky bronzer. Avon HD powder. Don't use foundation.

BishopBrennansArse · 15/09/2017 10:05

No 7 foundation, concealer and blusher
Soap and Glory eye shadows, eye liner and mascara - I also have the Primark smoky palette
Various lipsticks

TishHope · 15/09/2017 10:10

I'm going to buy Loreal tubing mascara today! thanks! Grin

Mominatrix · 15/09/2017 10:23

Dr Perricone Foundation serum - pricy, but a little goes a long way, and it is very sheer and lightweight

Nars light diffusing powder

Shu Uemera brow pencil and eyelash curler

Mac liquid liner in a pot

Nars orgasm liquid blush or Dr Perricone liquid blush depends on which one I grab first.

Nars lipliner and lipgloss - forgot the name, but it is their long-lasting one

BulletFox · 15/09/2017 10:47

Inika liquid foundation, Elisabeth Arden ceramide mascara, drugstore lippy, drugstore eyeliner (tried smith & cult eyeliner pen & hated it, so went back to cheap as chips)

I've thought about a primer. I'd probably need polyfiller Grin

BumWad · 15/09/2017 10:50

Nars foundation and concealer
Estée Lauder double wear foundation
Nars blush
Clinique mascara

littlespeckledfrog · 15/09/2017 11:47

Bobbi Brown stick foundation (great consistency, quick to apply and can easily build up coverage).
Clinique airbrush concealer.
Bobbi Brown cream eye shadows - the ones in pots. I found the stick ones wore off and clumped.
Maybelline waterproof mascaras - I can't get on with the more expensive brands of mascara and prefer Maybelline.
Clinique blusher.
Bobbi Brown brow mascara stuff.

I've tried the Clinique super primer but found it quite drying.

CruzRamirez · 15/09/2017 16:20

I'm not sure if this is what you meant by your OP but I think if I could only choose one brand of make up it would be close between Bobbi Brown and NARS, with Bobbi probably taking it. The products are very high quality and innovative.

Agree with the PP about the stick foundation, it sounds very old fashioned and as though it will be pancake thick but it's very good, they sell one every few seconds I believe.

christmasunicorn · 15/09/2017 16:59

My make up most days:

Laura mercier tinted moisturiser
Hourglass, nars or becca highlighter and blush
Urban decay eyeshadow
Too faced or benefit mascara
Mac or Charlotte tilbury lipstick

PollyPerky · 15/09/2017 17:04

Dior Star foundation - light, reflective, medium coverage.

Most other is Bobbi Brown- eye shadows, eyeliner, blusher, light reflective powder , concealer and lippies.

Lancome Hypnose mascara.

I HAVE also got B Brown stick foundation for touch ups over the day but find it quite sticky - it rubs off on your hands easily- and I don't find it covers well. The old one did but it's been reformulated.

Deecee1012 · 15/09/2017 18:03

I'm mid 50's...Urban Decay primer potion and 24/7 pencils. W7 mascara - my new cheapie love!!
Rosie @ M&S lipstick.
Foundation is No 7 or a tinted moisturiser by Boots (natural collection)
Blusher...body shop.

LoadsaBlusher · 15/09/2017 20:03

I use Dior star foundation for best,
Max Factor Facefinity for school run days

Rimmel face powders and bronzers
Rimmel mascara
Morphe eyeshadow pallete ( discovered these via a beauty group last year and have since converted from MAC eyeshadow, the pigment is amazing )

MAC lipsticks but I do keep about three MUA lippies in the shade " Bare " in various bags and pockets as it's such a great nude shade and only £1 , it's my everyday staple

Rimmel liquid eyeliner
I use any cheap dark brown eyebrow pencil , have a few in my make up bag from MUA , Poundland , home bargains etc

Blusher is MAC or MUA
Highlighter is Undress my Skin by MUA , swear by this stuff

So really I am not loyal to one brand my face is a total mixture
