How much stuff do you own?

DH has a 2 door wardrobe with a drawer, i have a three door wardrobe and we have a small ish chest of drawers each, then a shoe rack downstairs (lots of mine live in the bottom of my wardrobe). Coats are hung in the hall. Sports gear is kept in a roll-away storage box.It seems crazy - how much do you have?!

I have half a two door wardrobe. And a tall boy (six drawers).

I can't get my head round the idea that you need multiple pairs of jeans or multiple coats for potentially hundreds of different occasions.

I watch some bloggers buy stuff and I am aghast the sheer flagrant consumerism.

I have 3 double wardrobes in a dressing room section of my bedroom
1 wardrobe has
Jeans/trousers/skirts on Lower rail (colour coded)
On upper rail are cardigans, Jumpers, sweatshirts etc (colour coded)
The middle wardrobe has my dresses and
Coats & jackets ( just one high rail here)
3rd wardrobe has one rail and all my tops hang here (yes, colour coded)
I have drawers for undies, socks, bras
And gym gear.
My shoes are in boxes in the wardrobe.
I don't have many shoes. Live in my flip flops in the summer, Vans in the autumn & boots in the winter.
DH keeps all his stuff in the spare room

I have a 3 door wardrobe. Two of the doors contain all my day to day stuff, including some drawers. The third door contains a rail with a longer drop for coats and a few longer dresses I rarely wear. I also have a couple of under bed storage boxes and a hallway cupboard containing an overflow rail where clothes go to die and some extra shoe storage. I Konmari'd the whole lot a while back, but I could probably start all over again.....

LifeofClimb · 12/09/2017 22:14

I have a chest of drawers and half a rail. I also have two long plastic boxes under the bed.

I don't stack things in my chest of drawers, so I can see everything- which is why I need the boxes for PJs, jeans and jumpers. I do struggle with the rail. I'm temporarily housed - this is not long term, I may be here maybe another year or so - so I'm happy with the space I've got. I have two doors with hooks for jackets. I struggle with my jackets. Lots of my sports stuff is in storage, in the boot, or in the loft.

When I have my own place I will have my nice large, tall wardrobe back and I'll have a separate space for shoes and jackets. I have quite a few jackets and outerwear!

Double wardrobe with hanging things - dresses, trousers, and tops/blouses/jumpers, and a lower rail for skirts. DP's suits are also in there. Shelf space on top has out of season vacuum packed things - currently a mix of heavy jumpers and summer clothes. Two shelves in the cupboard next door house pyjamas, and vest tops and thermal tops for wearing under things. Big chest of drawers which I have two drawers in, one for underwear and one for tights and socks, plus a big walk-in cupboard in the hall for coats/jackets.

My partner has most of his clothes in the wardrobe in the spare room (which is essentially his man-cave) but we share the chest of drawers and coat cupboard.

Way too much.

Upstairs, six double wardrobes (floor to ceiling), three very wide drawers, six small drawers.

Downstairs, my share of space in the cupboard under the stairs and hall chest.

My problem is that my weight fluctuates. So I have clothes in different sizes. At the moment, I can barely get into any of my clothes. If I lose half a stone or do (which I often do, then put it back on over time) I will fit into it all.

OhTheRoses · 12/09/2017 22:51

A wardrobe for coats. For evening wear. Oh dear. I'm not really even that into clothes.

oldlaundbooth · 13/09/2017 01:35

I've actually got two sets of clothes for winter and summer as we live abroad.

So two wardrobes, two chests of drawers, a stacker thing full of stuff, plus a couple of boxes full. Underwear, t-shirts, bras etc are multi season of course.

I've waaaay too much stuff, I've got around 50 pairs of jeans or something ridiculous.

oldlaundbooth · 13/09/2017 01:36

Fuck yes I've a wardrobe for coats too, and a coat stand.

WellTidy · 13/09/2017 11:32

Wips This is how I have multiple clothes. Just taking jeans as an example (and this is after I seriously whittled down the jeans that I owned):

1 pair proper dark black skinnies for going out
1 pair dark denim skinnies for going out
2 pairs dark denim skinnies for normal days
1 pair black skinnies for normal days
1 pair washed lightish blue skinnies
1 pair straight leg black (for when I want to look smarter)
1 pair straight leg dark blue (as above)
1 pair relaxed/boyfriend fit
1 pair cropped jeans

So that's 10 pairs of just jeans. I did a huge cull earlier in the year and that is what I am left with and I see it as a minimum for me Blush.
Add to that proper trousers, cropped trousers etc. And skirts. And that is just my bottom half.

This is why I need so much storage, need I tell you.

PNGirl · 13/09/2017 13:54

We share this:

www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/storage-furniture/chest-of-drawers/hemnes-chest-of-6-drawers-white-art-20374277/

Top mini drawers contain my makeup and jewellery. Top drawer, my t shirts and vests. Second drawer, my jeans. Third drawer, his jeans. Bottom drawer, his t shirts.

We share a built in double wardrobe with a shoe shelf in our bedroom, which has longer sleeved tops, jumpers, shirts, etc and all our shoes.

In our spare room there's a triple Ikea wardrobe for coats, jackets and dresses but it's probably not even half full and also contains mini suitcases, Playstation box, wrapping paper, hidden birthday presents, etc. My handbags go in a clear plastic bin in the boiler cupboard.

battenbergbutterfly · 13/09/2017 14:42

I have 1/4 of a clothes rail. I own two pairs of jeans, 3 shirts, one smart dress, one maxi style summer dress, 2 skirts, 2 t-shirt tops, 3 pairs of shoes, one bag and underwear.

Dowser · 15/09/2017 12:45

I gave that Ikea set to my daughter in law. I've got the hemnes 8 drawer chest to myself.
It has underwear,
Stockings/ tights
Perfume/
Make up
Supplements
Financials
And other stuff

Veronicat · 15/09/2017 20:14

Too much!
I have the box room as a dressing room with two 6ft rails, four chests of drawers, far too many coats and don't get me started on shoes! And I live mostly in my uniform. 😮

Mimifox · 15/09/2017 20:21

A large built in wardrobe
1-5 metres wide hanging space
3 deep shelves inside
Shelf runs the length of it at top loaded with folded jumpers tops and tees
1 five drawer chest for undies tights and accessories
Further wardrobe same dimensions of one above full of coats and jackets- all mine

Mimifox · 15/09/2017 20:23

Just counted hangers in wardrobe
