uniqlo extra-fine merino wool - hole after one wash - what did I do wrong...?

Never have a problem with uniqlo quality usually, in fact I love it, find it washes brilliantly.

I bought one of the extra-fine Merino wool short-sleeve sweaters a couple of weeks ago, washed it on 30 degree delicate cycle as I usually would, hung it up to dry. Went to put it on this morning and there's a hole the size of my finger tip near the collar.

I have another unworn ultra-fine Merino sweater and want to avoid it happening again! Should I not spin it out? Wash it on wool cycle? Obv it IS wool, but usually they're fine on a 30 degree delicate wash and low spin.

Maybe just a faulty one? Or perhaps a loose thread I didn't see...?

That sounds like a loose thread to me. Either that or it was caught on a clothes peg on the line?

Thx cherries. I hung it without pegs so it's definitely not that, but I do think it could have been a loose thread. Will check the other one before I wash it for sure.

I have the same problem with a hole in each of the two extra fine Uniqlo merino wool sweaters after two washes in the washer in hand wash cycle. They were hung dry both times without pegs. I have a third one that I'm afraid to even wear now. Unfortunately I no longer have the receipt to even return the third sweater.

I've come to the conclusion that they are just not well made. I really love Uniqlo clothes, and my wardrobe is filled with their clothes, but this one is really a disappointment. Uniqlo customer service is really not up to par either on this issue. I've been in contact with them since December and the only thing they can suggest is for me to send them back with the receipt when I already told them I don't have the receipt anymore. It's been frustrating.

I've had this too with a recent sweater I bought. The previous 3 I have are fine, and have been washed numerous times. I'm planning on taking it back and getting a replacement.

Meant to say I always wash them on a hand wash cycle and hang to dry without pegs.

I bought three this winter and all three developed holes. I won't be buying them again. I don't think they are very good quality.
