I'm 32, am I too old to wear one?

I have just got a very thin black one in my hair at the moment, but wonder about venturing out of the house with it in.

I like the wide black elasticated ones.

satine · 03/04/2007 11:35

You're not too old for anything at 32, for heaven's sake, apart from legwarmers, and possibly microminis.

MrsBadger · 03/04/2007 11:37

I wear them all the time
either narrow elastic ones like these that disappear into your hair or wide scarfy ones like these

Can't bring myself to do this sort - wore too many as a small girl.

NadineBaggott · 03/04/2007 11:38

they're very okay yah imo or put another way - naff

LadyMacbeth · 03/04/2007 11:38

I often wear wide ones (relied on them heavily when post-baby hair was growing back arond my hairline!). I am 31. You are not too old.

KittyLetteMeEatAnEasterEgg · 03/04/2007 11:39

i wear em!

JackieNo · 03/04/2007 11:40

Agree with MrsB (though the spelling on that Monsoon one of 'bando' instead of 'bandeau' does irk me, pedant that I am)

KittyLetteMeEatAnEasterEgg · 03/04/2007 11:40

but like cute sparlkly red glitter ones,

LadyMacbeth · 03/04/2007 11:41

Ooops not sure about the narrow ones though - they are a bit twinset and pearls / little girly therefore not a great look for a 32 year old.

But it's the way you wear it girl so who cares? Hold your head up and just be fabulous...

hoxtonchick · 03/04/2007 11:42

i have this one for the beach. though have just had all my hair chopped off so won't be using it in the very near future.

BethBoo · 03/04/2007 12:06

Never to old!
thanks for the Accessorize link Mrs Badger just ordered some more

margo1974 · 03/04/2007 12:49

OOh I like the accessorize one MrsB

Thank you for rubbishing the "too old" phrase

You've made me feel a bit younger!!!

i got a couple
theywer ok
but did feel self conc

MamaG · 03/04/2007 12:50

I look a twat in a thin headband

margo1974 · 03/04/2007 12:55

When I pose for photos, I always push my glasses to the top of my head to avoid looking like a headmistress, so I suppose I do it already.

Ok, will go to the shops with it in but will be listening out for any sniggers or shouts of mutton behind my back

princessmelTingChoccyEggs · 03/04/2007 12:55

Whats the best hair style for headbands then? I don't think my hair would work. I have a bob, one length apart from a few long layers, side parting.

brimfull · 03/04/2007 12:56

they never stay in place on me,always pinging off the back of my enormous head
I do like the scarf ones

MrsBadger · 03/04/2007 13:00

Margo, go to Claires Accessories and buy really cheap ones
then if they suit you shell out for Monsoon

Can't quite picture it I'm afraid princessmel - mine is one length and past my shoulders with a centre parting, very 70s I guess...

bozza · 03/04/2007 13:02

ah ggirl DD has that problem. She has a red one with velcro to go with her snow white dress and it tends to ping across the room!

princessmelTingChoccyEggs · 03/04/2007 13:03

No I didn't think so Mrs b. I'm too neat I suppose.

janeite · 03/04/2007 13:25

I wear them occasionally but am scared of looking a bit too "Neil from the young ones", as I have long dark hair. I'd love to know how to get my hair all high and 60s-ish with a headband - any ideas?

margo1974 · 03/04/2007 13:27

backcomb velco rollers and hairspray

OP posts:
margo1974 · 03/04/2007 13:28

duh VELCRO

OP posts:
janeite · 03/04/2007 22:01

Thanks Margo; do you have any idiot-proof instructions?

RosaLuxembourg · 04/04/2007 21:07

I wore one of DD2's the other day. All the DDs liked it but DH did not. Twunt. May buy some of my own now just to piss him off.
